Hard Bound

Buried in the Adam & Eve catalog is yet another wonderful feature made at the turn of this century, "Hard Bound". It's a modest, simple little film, but with two wonderful performances by Nina Hartley and Dale DaBone, both among A&E's greatest talents.

As with a lesser effort "Gen Sex", director Bob Chinn benefits from an excellent screenplay by his better half Deborah Chinn, that limns the bickering relationship of two people thrust together by motor trouble.

Nina's car breaks down in the boonies, and she rejects the aid of country boy DaBone who offers her a ride in his old truck. It also breaks down and the stranded twosome try to hike to civilization, bickering all the way.

Not only is the dialog sharp, but both performers stay in character and create indelible roles, besides having the inevitable XXX action. To flesh out the video, we also see sex scenes involving Nina's sexy sister TJ Hart and lesbian friend Tina Tyler, waiting for sis to arrive for a birthday party. Talented cast also includes James Bonn as a blind date guy -Bonn is a talented character actor in Adult who really has no modern equivalent on the current scene (especially since acting is no longer a prerequisite in these gonzo times).

With a great deal of exterior scenes as the duo trek along this little video is as entertaining as many a small-scale mainstream feature, and exhibits a type of storytelling that has been abandoned in favor of quickie set-ups leading to endless humping for an ignorant audience a couple of decades later.
