Welcome to a slightly belated weekly roundup of all the new titles added to Netflix in the United States as we awaited the first-of-the-month arrivals, which included 30 new additions. Below, we’ll walk you through the 42 new movies that touched down and the 18 new series that arrived over the past seven days, in addition to looking at what shows and movies picked up the most points in the US top 10s.

While this list covers the first-of-the-month arrivals, you’ll want to familiarize yourself with all the other March additions here.

Finally debuting on March 4th is Netflix’s lifestyle series With Love, Meghan, which is hosted and executive produced by Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex. A new month is just around the corner, but Netflix is concluding in February with some big new releases. Below, we’ll be tackling all the new confirmed titles on the way to Netflix (specifically in the US – other regions’ lineups will vary) with headline titles, including the debuts of Venom: The Last Dance and Despicable Me 4, plus some big new Netflix Originals.

Note: This list is partially incomplete, given that Netflix has yet to send its “New on Netflix” newsletter to the press. That’s coming on Wednesday, so stay tuned! We’re tracking all the new additions coming for Netflix US for March 2025 here.

Netflix has just released the list of movies and television shows that are expiring from the streaming service beginning on December 1, 2024.

Throughout the entire month, the streamer will be slowly taking away some big hits. This is a monthly re-occurrence for Netflix, as they often have to remove titles due to expiring licensing agreements and other factors.

There are always some big shows and films that are removed, and December 2024 is unfortunately no exception! In addition, the streamer is removing a few of their games.

In the world of martial arts cinema, there is certainly a wide range of fighting styles. Stars of the genre typically have common techniques, methods, and manners of combat that are consistent across their movies. In some cases, actors have an especially ruthless take on martial arts. Bruce Lee set the standard for this approach in his classic 1973 film Enter The Dragon.

Someone like Jackie Chan would be a good exception to this category. Although he is a master martial artist, he usually relies on more technical and non-lethal combat styles. Nevertheless, he remains an icon, and Jackie Chan still has upcoming martial arts movies. The story follows an addict war veteran turned rideshare driver who helps a terrified passenger escape a human trafficking ring serving wealthy clients.

One of the most prolific names in action cinema is Michael Jai White. He made his incredible mark by taking on a complex role in his breakthrough performance as Mike Tyson in the HBO original film, Tyson, which can still be viewed on HBO Max. He was the first and only actor to date to bring the cult comic superhero Spawn to life on the big screen. And today, you can see him in his new action film, in which he stars and wrote, titled As Good As Dead.

Michael Jai White has been an electrifying presence in action movies for decades, and he brings that power to the screen again in his new movie As Good As Dead. Directed by R. Ellis Frazier and written by White himself, As Good As Dead was produced by White's production company Jaigantic Studios, and can currently be seen in theaters and on digital platforms.

In As Good As Dead, a kid named Oscar (Luca Oriel) in Nogales, Mexico begins to learn martial arts from a mysterious man named Bryant (White). However, after a video of Oscar using his skills in an Mma tournament goes viral, some old enemies of Bryant's from his time as a DEA agent track him down. With Oscar and his family also targets, it is up to Bryant to stop them.

Former Paramount Pictures duo John Goldwyn and Karen Rosenfelt are reuniting at Warner Bros. Television.

The feature executives-turned-independent producers have formed production company Goldwyn/Rosenfelt Productions and have entered into a first-look television deal with the studio overseen by Channing Dungey.

Under the multiple-year deal, Goldwyn and Rosenfelt will develop original scripted programming for the studio’s internal portfolio, including HBO Max, as well as outside streaming services, cable and broadcast networks.

In addition to exec producing Hulu’s Emmy-nominated limited series Dopesick, Goldwyn and Rosenfelt spent more than a decade together at Paramount Pictures, where the former served as president and then vice chairman of the studio’s motion picture group. During his tenure atop the studio, Goldwyn oversaw features including Saving Private Ryan, Titanic, Mission: Impossible and Forrest Gump, among countless others. But the headline releases are on the film side. December 1 brings the streaming premiere of “The Power of the Dog,” Jane Campion’s Best Picture favorite starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, and Kodi Smit-McPhee. On December 10, Netflix drops “The Unforgivable,” a new drama with former Best Actress winner Sandra Bullock. On December 24, it’s Adam McKay’s star-studded Best Picture hopeful “Don’t Look Up,” with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Cate Blanchett, Rob Morgan, Timothee Chalamet, Tyler Perry, Ariana Grande, and Mark Rylance. The streamer closes out 2021 with “The Lost Daughter,” Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut with Olivia Colman and Dakota Johnson.

The Jack in the Box is a United Kingdom shot feature. Already released in this territory, the film is prepping for a U.S. release on DVD. In the story, a museum receives an ancient artifact. But, when the crank is turned, something emerges from within. The acclaimed African-inspired fantasy novel, Children of Blood and Bone, is getting a movie adaptation with Rick Famuyiwa set to direct.

Children of Blood and Bone arrived in 2018 as a refreshing Ya fantasy offering that eschews the genre’s obligatory array of sexy monsters and post-apocalypstic scenarios, centering itself in the arena of African mysticism, focused exclusively on African characters. Warner Bros. has announced a spring release date for the Rob Thomas-written and directed Veronica Mars feature film, based on the beloved and acclaimed television series of the same name.

The film will open in the U.S. on March 14th in AMC Theatres in select markets across the country.

The Veronica Mars movie was made possible by a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign driven by fans of the television show, which ran from 2004 – 2007. Launched by Thomas and series star Kristen Bell, the Kickstarter campaign unleashed an unprecedented level of fan enthusiasm and support, reaching the project goal of $2 million in just 10 hours. November 8th marked the kickoff of the Urban Action Showcase weekend in New York City. It was presented by Mr. Demetrius Angelo of Asc Productions. The event was to be a celebration of action and martial arts film for all people of color, as well as a celebration of diversity in film-making, and it delivered. The main exhibition was hosted at the New York Hilton and peripheral events were at the HBO building, and AMC’s Times Square Theater.

Get ready for 10 truly terrifying nights when Washington, D.C.’s Spooky Movie International Horror Film Festival haunts the AFI Silver Theatre on Oct 10-19 for the fest’s 8th annual edition.

Things really jolt alive on the 10th with the Opening Night film Willow Creek, a surprising genre entry by comedian-turned-director Bobcat Goldthwait, who tells the tale about a couple of amateur Bigfoot hunters who get in way over their heads in the woods. This site and the connections that I have made through this site have encouraged me to write a little more. This critic, Blogger and horror enthusiast has enjoyed watching and reading other people's work in the genre. Over the last year and through other's inspirations, I have been working on a full length novel. The novel is called Blood and Bone, to give readers a sense of what the novel is about (horror). Currently, the novel is approximately 250 pages long and I have made the first chapter of the novel available through the publishing website Wattpad. For those interested in a Winter read, Blood and Bone takes place in a fictional universe, not unlike Cormac McCarthy's The Road. Melbourne-made drama Last Dance and local horror comedy 100 Bloody Acres will screen as part of the 2012 Melbourne International Film Festival (Miff).

The festival has revealed a sneak peek of their program ahead of the official launch in July.

Last Dance, which was filmed in and around St Kilda at the end of last year, follows Sadiq Mohammad (Firass Dirani), a radical Palestinian, who, after fleeing from a suicide bombing that has gone wrong, takes holocaust survivor, Ulah Lippman (Julia Blake), hostage in her own apartment. The film, which was directed by David Pulbrook and produced by Antony I. Ginnane, received part of its financing from the Miff Premiere Fund.

I’m a big Mma fan, and I’m still waiting for them to make a good Mma themed movie. The sport has had a definite impacted recent action cinema. You only have to look at movies like “The A-Team”, starring former Ufc champ Quentin ‘Rampage’ Jackson, Steven Soderbergh’s impending “Haywire”, starring Gina “The Face of Women’s Mma” Carano, and “The Expendables”, which features multiple big-name fighters, to realize that these athletes are now everywhere in popular culture.
