Imaginative, unusual short

A school-girl with no friends and absent parents begins to experience increasingly large and aggressive animals eating her homework. Are they figments of her imagination, a manifestation of her damaged psyche? The school counsellor certainly seems to think so, but they've been wrong before.

The story here is quirky and fun, without being at all groundbreaking. The character is sympathetic, the narration witty and the story has enough twists to you guessing. The originality comes from the visual design. Which the filmmaker (John Weldon) calls "digital recyclomation", a mix of basic computer animation, puppets, photos and stop-motion. The results is uneven, but unique. Definitely a worthwhile short.
