Money Monster positions itself as an angst-filled rallying cry, but for something that so desperately wants to insight impoverished rage, its voice couldn’t be more monotone. Maybe that’s because The Big Short better addresses financial outrage, or because three writers (Jamie Linden, Alan Difiore, Jim Kouf) jam-pack their personal attack on Jim Cramer with an embarrassing amount of corruption clichés. A hackneyed suicide plot and an unfocused agenda that reeks of 90s paranoia? Even George Clooney’s dashingly obnoxious buffoonery can’t save Jodie Foster’s return to the director’s chair, as Money Monsters steadily – and aggressively – dips lower and lower into the red with each passing second.
In an age dominated by Wall Street and big business, television personalities have become a trusted resource for investment advice – and there’s none better than Money Monster’s Lee Gates (George Clooney). Episode by episode, Gates works his...

It's down to the final two on The Bachelor and while finalists Whitney and Becca seem to have fallen in love with Chris Soules, they're (understandably) not exactly thrilled about possibly moving to Iowa.
News: 9 Reasons Why Kaitlyn Bristowe Should Be the Next 'Bachelorette'!
At first glance, the Hawkeye State may not seem to have much to offer, but we did some research and there are some pros to balance out the cons.
1. It's one of the Top 10 least-expensive states to live in.
ABC
The cost of living index is 92.5, according to USA Today, which means the average home will cost you $140,000.
2. It's safe. Iowa is one of the safest states in the U.S. to live in.
Etonline
The fact that it's comprised of 92 percent farmland probably plays a part in this statistic.
3. They'll be able to see the stars at night.

They say that all good things must come to an end, and this eBook only release of Isolation brings David Moody’s zombie writing to an end, collecting his remaining fiction together and drawing a line underneath his undead work. Never say never, of course, because horror has a way of coming back from, ahem, the dead, but for now those of us who have been on Moody’s journey through the zombie apocalypse can step into his cadaver filled world one final time.
There are five stories in this collection, the main one being the titular Isolation, a novella based on a screenplay that Moody had been working on developing into a movie with Colchester based director Will Wright but which had, as these projects often do unfortunately, stalled. Telling the tale of Keith, a socially awkward young man who initially finds himself alone among the suddenly deceased rest of the world,...

We’ve become accustomed over the years to having several different versions of films made available to us, whether the theatrical release, the director’s cut, the work print or even the bootleg Producer’s cut (bonus points if you know which movie I’m referring to with this one*), but with The Cost Of Living, David Moody has done something similar with a story.
As he explains in his introduction to this kindle only release, the idea for the story had been kicking around for a few years, and at one point was to have been included in the Autumn universe as one of the many short pieces of complementary fiction that were collected in his anthology The Human Condition and fleshed out his world of zombies.
However, once written it didn’t feel right, and so it was reinvented as a piece of flash fiction,...

London, Apr 15: Almost half of the people in Britain are "seriously considering" moving overseas, a survey has found.
Australia is top of the relocation wish list followed by the Us, Canada and New Zealand, the Sun reported.
The cost of living, weather, unemployment and crime are the most common reasons for wanting to quit Britain.
Pollsters YouGov quizzed 1,650 adults after The Sun told last week about Dave and Jackie Jones who emigrated to Australia with their 12 kids.
The family from Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria - who have never claimed benefits - quit in despair at what they see as soft-touch Britain's emphasis on state handouts instead of opportunities.

It's a safe bet that J.J. Abrams is always working on something, whether it's a new movie, TV show, comic book, grilled cheese recipe, etc. Now word comes in of another top-secret project between Abrams and frequent collaborators Monica Breen and Alison Schapker on a new film involving "swashbuckling robots with swords" called "Zanbato." Sounds like the Thanksgiving hangover I never woke up from, but I digress.
Deadline has the news, though details are scarce beyond that bizarre but alluring premise. "Zanbato" marks the fourth collaboration between Abrams and the Breen/Schapker team, who previously wrote for "Alias," "Lost" and "Fringe." Deadline points out that female writing teams in sci-fi are rare, but you wouldn't believe it by checking their resume -- Breen and Schapker kicked out some of those shows' most compelling and shocking material.

Dear Jackie:Can you recommend any good areas in the United States, or even Canada, for professional theater? My husband and I are looking to move out of New York City, but I want to keep performing in musical theater. We don't want to live in a city and are looking to live someplace where we can buy a house and commute into a city if needed. We just aren't city people. —Big City BluesDEAR Big:There are wonderful theater communities all over North America. The X factor in choosing among them may lie in your definition of the word "professional." If you are looking to make a living in musical theater—a challenge for any performer—you'll have an even tougher time of it outside a major metropolis. If you want a busy professional life doing only well-paying Equity gigs, you may want to rethink New York, which functions as a...

It used to be, if you were serious about starting a tech company, you went to Silicon Valley. But emerging entrepreneurial hubs around the country are giving startup aspirants options. In this series, we talk to leading figures in those communities about what makes them tick.
Let's get Warren Buffett out of the way first. The investing guru and “Oracle of Omaha” manages to draw tens of thousands of attendees to the annual meeting of his company, Berkshire Hathaway, while also delivering 76% returns in the last decade (against the S&P’s 11.3%).
But shareholders who gather at the company’s annual meeting, dine at Buffett’s favorite restaurant (Gorat’s) and shop at Borsheim’s are just skimming the surface. There's also Big Omaha, a conference for entrepreneurs and investors, and Silicon Prairie News, which tracks and celebrates the doings of startups in the region.

On "Lost," death is about as common as the cold. With only one episode remaining in the series, a healthy portion of the faces that have graced the mythical Island are currently six feet under. Some of these deaths were avoidable, some were story mistakes, while others were just… well, epic.

There's no shortage of reasons that fans have grown so attached to "Lost" over the years. The show's mythology and character work are close to the top of that list, but there are other subtle but no less essential ingredients involved, including Michael Giacchino's score and the show's editing. At the end of the day, one of the single most important elements of all is the happy marriage between brilliant writing and line delivery from the actors, resulting in a wealth of unforgettable monologues and one-liners over the course of the show's five seasons.
After the jump, we've listed 42 memorable quotes from all five seasons of "Lost," though there are certainly many other worthy speeches and zingers that didn't make the cut. Make sure to head to the comments section and remind us of your favorite quotes from the series.

On "Lost," death is about as common as the cold. It drifts in and out just like a sickness, sometimes with warning but often without any signs at all, and almost always claiming its victims with ruthless efficiency. Whether the dead party is a beloved or loathed character, one thing remains true throughout — the death scenes of "Lost" are almost always epic and inventive.
After the jump, we've listed 23 dead characters who should return for the final season of "Lost."
Stay tuned to MTV next week for the final installments of Lost In Numbers, a series of features pegged directly to the show's trademark number sequence: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42. Needless to say, spoilers for season five and earlier lie ahead. And make sure to tune in to MTV Movies Blog next Tuesday for our live blog of the season premiere!

The Cost of Living
by Kathleen Farrell (Macmillan)
Having successfully laid bare the machinations of what love is to many in her previous novel, Take It To Heart, one could have expected Farrell to have continued with the same astute intensity. Instead, in 1956 she delivered the breezy The Cost of Living, a colorful, deceptively simple affair, its lightness of touch belying a certainty of purpose in presenting an apparently scatty arrangement of existence and the echoes of a singular evening. Seldom can appearances have been so delightfully deceptive, and although the flippant undertone never quite deserts these pages, the tone darkens gradually and imperceptibly, in the way an afternoon slips into night.

The Smoke Monster is both the single greatest threat to the Island's inhabitants and the single greatest mystery on "Lost." Danielle Rousseau called it a security system, the Others have no name for it, and John Locke — like the rest of us — just wants to know what it is and how it does what it does.

In the rules of the Internal Revenue Service, there is a special category called the "qualified performing artist," which used to be of significant value to actors.Unfortunately, although it may still be of consequence to some, as the cost of living has steadily increased, the usefulness of the Qpa provision has steadily decreased. Now it's mostly a source of confusion, even within the IRS.The Qpa provision allows performers who fulfill its conditions to write off their acting-related expenses as an adjustment to their income and to take the standard deduction as well. This is a significant tax break for performers—assuming you fulfill the requirements, and therein lies the problem. The rule requires that you have no more than $16,000 in adjusted gross income; at least two W-2s, each paying at least $200, from entertainment-related companies; and performing-related deductions equal to at least 10 percent of your adjusted gross income.

Fast Company takes a look at employment opportunities for expats overseas in developed and developing nations.
Nine point eight percent. That's the current unemployment rate from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Let that sink in as you consider that as it's been inching up monthly, this is the highest it's been during the last 10 years. Indeed, American workers had good reason to party like it was 1999 that year when unemployment was a relatively low 4.2%.
Still, there are jobs out there. And some studies indicate that the chances of landing a job are far better overseas.
A recent survey by Manpower Inc. found that employment prospects are most favorable in India, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, China, Australia, Singapore, Costa Rica, Canada, Taiwan, and Poland. Jeff Joerres, Manpower Inc.'s chairman and CEO says a reason for this is because the populations of developing countries are increasing nearly six times as fast as those of developed countries.

The bloody sci-fi survival horror game Dead Space from Electronic Arts has been terrifying gamers for several weeks now, and even more frightening than it’s ghoulish graphics is it’s original symphonic soundtrack. Composed by the renown composer Jason Graves with the help of The Skywalker Symphony Orchestra, Graves creates an intense, eerie soundscape for this first person shooter game that adds the perfect atmosphere to this nightmarish game. The Dead Space CD features 15 tracks of bombastic orchestrations offering a wide dynamic range from eerie, screeching strings to thunderous, frenetic percussions. A must have for lovers of dark and dissonant music, or for fans of the EA game itself.
