This was Afghanistan's first film to be submitted for Oscar nomination as best foreign language film.
Julia Fox wrote in her memoir, "Down The Drain", about making her acting debut with a small role in this film. Her father was an investor on the project and made it a condition of his investment that his daughter be given a role. However, her performance was cut from the final version of the film.
