I watched both American Idol's (well I didn't follow the second season as well as I did the first season.) And I even watch American Juniors. I was so happy to hear that Canada was doing Canadian Idol, and couldn't wait for the show to air. When it did, I was not disappointed. I love how they even got a 'Simon' on this show too. I love how they don't sugar coat everything they say as Paula Abdul did.. And... that's all I have to say!

Ben Mulroney sucks. Every time I see his stupid, full of himself, less-than-40 IQ face on my TV I want to just punch him right in the eye. Canadian Idol as a show I could take or leave, not for me (not much of a reality TV fan) and they always seemed to get their winners wrong, but with Ben Mulroney being added to the mix I can't stand the thought of watching this show for more than one second. He is an airhead Canadian, brunette version of a Ken doll and his father was obviously a total D-bag. I can't stand that guy he makes me want to jump head first into the nearest hole just to get away from my TV. Ben Mulroney sucks!

CTV Bring this back! Or can you ask Simon Cowell for a X Factor for at least one season? Please?

I watched and enjoyed American Idol, so I was skeptical that the Canadian version could improve on the formula, but they totally have. The show is smarter, funnier, and more touching too - plus the Canadian competitors seem to be way more talented. I especially love that Jon Dore guy - he's hilarious! And Ben Mulroney is surprisingly funny too - his voiceover comments constantly crack me up. I can't wait to see who wins it - I already have a few favorites!
Canada has put some great talent out there. Shania Twain, Default, Swollen Members, Avril, Sum 41, Three Days Grace, Finger Eleven, Alanis Morisette, and Nickelback are among the honorables. However, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction...and here it is.
This is Canadian Idol. It's like American Idol but with none of the talent and none of the likability.
The judges will pick anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who can sing above a certain number of decibels. People will come up and sing a painful version of "Stacey's Mom" or screech through "A Whole New World" and the judges will ooooh and awwww and gush at every atrocious note the singers attempt to hit.
They will drown the singer in praises and give them the golden ticket to Toronto.
Meanwhile, the host is out on the town, picking up Idol hopefuls on a greyhound bus, drinking Screech, having a date with a Cod (unfortunatly, I'm not joking), chipping away at the sea ice so the ferry can get to St. John's, and comforting weepy losers who diddn't make it to Toronto. WHAT THE HECK AM I WATCHING HERE?! I thought this was a talent show seeking the next great Canadian singer, not revealing the worst in Maritime culture. This show literally makes me ashamed to be Canadian. And I though Hayden Christianson's horrible acting in "Attack of the Clones" was the worst in Canadian no-talent. Can I still change my vote?
Americans, don't think you have it easy. You guys still need to shake off "The Swan".

The only way this show can flop is if this guy does not win. I find that he is the best every week. I mean Mikey Bustos sucked I am glad he is gone, Toya Alexis sucked I am gad she is gone, Tyler Hamilton was better than Jenny Gear, why is he gone and she's still there?
Looks like Canada are just as bad at voting as the Americans.

This season was absolutely spectacular! I've seen American Idol, and i didn't want to give Canadian Idol a chance. I was sure it was going to be a waste of time, like almost every other Canadian-based show we have. I was completely blown away with how wrong i was... with this particular season anyway. It was jam-packed with talent and hilarity, two very important factors, I'm sure, in the show's ultimate success. I was especially impressed with Canada's ability to distinguish between real, original talent and your everyday excellent performance. The top 3 easily proves our country's ability to do just that, having Jacob, Theressa and Kalan - all of whom have very original voices. Even though Kalan won, all three of the finalists developed equally impressive careers for themselves afterward, something American Idol has yet to accomplish. Besides the amazing talent this season, there was definitely other memorable moments (especially involving Jacob's comedic antics) that further proved that this season of Canadian Idol was definitely the best season, in any country, thus far.

this is my favourite show!!! it is awesome!! I LOVE KALAN PORTER!! The judges are Sass Jordan, Farley Flex, Zack Werner, Jake Gold, with host Ben Mulroney (host of e talk daily) and correspondent Jon Dore. The top 10 are: 1. Kalan Porter 2. Brandy Callahan 3. Manoah Hartmann 4. THeresa Sokyrka 5. Elena Juatco 6. Shane Weibe 7. Joshua Seller 8. Jacob Hoggard 9. Kaleb Simmonds 10. Shane Greeley. This television show really showcases canada's talent. This is one terrific show! I think Kalan Porter will win. The first two who were eliminated from the competition were Brandy Callahan (who was first eliminated) and Manoah Hartmann (who recently was eliminated that makes her the second person eliminated from the show).

I think that this show is not that bad. It is just like all the other reality music shows.
They find some people who can sing pretty well, they take tbem to Toronto to do the competition.
They put them in groups of 10 and they perform in front of the camera and Canada votes for who they want in the Top 10. In my opinion I have not agreed with the way Canada has voted in a long time *coughs* (Paul Martin)
Then they all sing their hearts out and prove that they are the the true Canadian Idol.
The Idol then gets "crowned" gets their 15 seconds of fame and is never heard of again...ie Ryan Malcom, Ruban Studdard, Kelly (whoever)
I would much rather be a Canadian singer then a Canadian Idol.
I think the show is fun to watch and it is entertaining and to top it all off Ben Mulroney makes the show a WHOLE lot easier to watch.
Grade. B (B is for Ben)
