Mahendra Sadhu was offered the film but he did not like the script.
Navin Nischol was expecting the film to become a blockbuster and help his career. The film flopped. Navin stated after Zorro and Mounto flopped ,his career was never the same. He got work and was always busy, but his status as a star fell and it never recovered. Big banner films only offered him roles in two hero films. The big banner two hero films would only come to him after the top stars (Jeetendra,Vinod,Shatrughan,Shashi,Sanjeev,Feroz) rejected the roles . His solo starrer's were small budgeted and smaller heroines were cast opposite him.
Navin Nischol played the famous character of "Zorro" in the film. What is also interesting is that famous adult film star Jamie Gillis also played the same character in the climax scene in the porn film "Sensual Fire"(1979). Jamie was involved with adult film actress "Juliet Graham" in the 1970's. Coincidently, Juliet acted Navin Nischol in the Hindi film "Kashish"(1980). So the interesting trivia fact is that Juliet Graham acted with 2 actors who played, the character "Zorro" in their films.
