A sweet comedy which turns sour... courtesy of the French police violence

A granddad from Guinea (Cheik Doukoure) travels to France to buy a water pump. The old Russian one is dead. He&#39;s on a tourist visa and carries all the villagers savings. He gets robbed upon arrival... he is desperate... he tries to find a job to earn the money back... and falls in the trap of illegal immigration... and has to face the terrible French anti immigration laws and police. On his journey to hell he meets several people who try to help him, and actually care (Elisabeth Vitali, Magloire, Vincent Mc Doom) including a Christian priest who tries to shelter him in his church... A very moving film which caused controversy in France, and was awarded the Humna rights award by the United Nations in 2003. For a reason...
