CONFECTION is a short that was included on the same DVD as the Brazilian film MAN OF THE YEAR--produced by the Film Movement organization. I don't know if it's available through any other sources. It's also available on the DVD set "Shorts: Volume Three" as well as Ms. Saks web page.
The film is interesting in that it's the story of a little girl but there isn't dialog. Instead you see her and her thoughts and these lead you to understand what is occurring in the story--a very difficult task to say the least.
The film begins with a cute girl (about 6 years-old) as she makes her choice of which pastry she'd like in a huge case filled with dozens of very tempting morsels. What exactly happens next, I'd rather not say--after all the film is less than 4 minutes long and I'd hate to spoil it. However, given the time constraints, the film's writer/producer/director (Eva Saks) does a lovely job of telling a story and putting a smile on your face. Nice.
By the way, after seeing the film, I looked up Ms. Saks and found that she made another brilliant short starring another cute girl that I adored (COLORFORMS). See this film--it's so charming and Saks has a great way of portraying the world through a child's eyes!
