After seeing the First Part of "Das Wunder von Lengede" I feel a slight disappointment. 1963 when the mining Desaster happened the german magazin "Der Stern" printed Interviews with the surviving Miners, these Interviews should have been shown and nothing more.
After being trapped the Miners forgot to switch their Lights off s very soon they sat in the Dark. OK you cannot show complete darkness on a TV Show, that would be dull, but you should dim the Light so much that most of the things on-screen would be left to Imagination.
After eight days the Miners should show MUCH more hairgrowth in the faces.
The Overalltone of this thing is far to blown up and iced with sugarsweet pathos..
Just take the last scene were a dying Miner who tried to escape by diving faints and hearsthe song "Glück auf der Steiger kommt"... that is cheap while trying to look like great Cinema. At best i give it 5.5 out of ten.
For those really interested what happend there, call the Sternarchiv and request those Interviews or try to see "Das Drama von Lengede" a documentation on the ARD produced by the WDR
