Shotaro Ishinomori's classic manga Cyborg 009 has received many adaptations and crossovers over the decades. This spring, it will be moving to a new realm: the stage. Announced today, Cyborg 009 the Stage will adapt Ishinomori's tale of nine cyborgs fighting for world peace. Go Ueki, who oversaw the stage play adaptations of both Hypnosismic -Division Rap Battle- and Attack on Titan , directs. The official website of Tokyo Anime Award Festival, or Taaf in short, announced the winners of the 2024 Lifetime Achievement awards on Dec 14, 2023. The award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of animation industry and culture.

The following members have won the Taaf 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award;

1. Shunzo Kato

A renowned producer behind numerous works of Tms Entertainment and Telecom Animation. Anpanman, Akira, Space Cobra are some of his well known anime.

2. Akira Toriyama

Mangaka, who is known for Dragon Ball, Dr. Slump – Arale-chan, Sandland, among others.

3. Sukehiro Tomita

He is a scriptwriter, known for his work on Space Runaway Ideon, Macross II, Digimon Frontier, Gall Force, etc.

4. Ryousuke Takahashi

A director, who is known for original works such as Armored Trooper Votoms, Fang of the Sun Dougram, Cyborg 009, Phoenix, and others. Taaf describes him as “a rare creator who has consistently unfolded his unique worlds across a wide range of genres,...

Netflix is on the cusp of taking down a wide selection of movies and TV series.

The streaming service removes numerous titles each month, but without fanfare; unless you happen to select the thing that’s about to leave, you will have no idea there’s a limited amount of time left to watch.

In recent years, monster fans have heard the mighty roar of the radioactive reptile, and the King of the Monsters shows no signs of slowing down, as Netflix and Toho are now teaming up for a new anime Godzilla project.

The Godzilla anime will be released globally on Netflix after a Japanese theatrical release via Toho. An exact release date and trailer have not yet been revealed, but you can check out concept art from the anime below, via the official site.

In the original manga story, nine regular humans are kidnapped by the evil Black Ghost organization to undergo human experiments which resulted in nine cyborgs with each one having super human powers. The nine cyborgs band together to fight for their freedom and to stop Black Ghost. The evil organization's goal is to start the next world war by supplying rich buyers with countless weapons of mass destruction. Archaia has announced a reimagining of classic manga Cyborg 009. The publisher will team with Japan's Ishimori Productions on a reboot of Shotaro Ishinomori's sci-fi tale. Fj DeSanto (The Spirit) and Bradley Cramp (Gattaca) will write the new origin tale with Red Robin and Huntress artist Marcus To. Cyborg 009 centres around nine unwilling people who are kidnapped by the sinister Black Ghost Organisation and transformed into living weapons. Cyborg 009, the first superhero team created in Japan, is getting the English-language treatment, with Archaia Publishing teaming up with Ishimori Production Inc. to introduce American audiences to the property. The director of the classic Ghost In The Shell has been quiet of late, his output over the past couple years being largely limited to short films which have not traveled widely. But here's an exception. Oshii recently helmed an animated adaptation of Shotaro Ishinomori's manga Cyborg 009 with backing from Panasonic and the film has since been released online in its entirety.Frankly it's not Oshii's most inventive work, with several shots lifted directly from previous efforts, but Oshii is still Oshii and it's worth a look.
