This movie, while dark and fuzzy, is much superior to the original because of better acting by the adult characters. The last 10 minutes is genuinely heartbreaking.
The victim's mother is much more believable here and her reactions to the lead's mother is more realistic.
The lead's. Mother reacts to the increasing evidence in ways that are believable and seem heartfelt.
The janitor's personage is more clearly malicious than that of the original.
The lead may be the only role less well-acted than the American version. She is too small and mean-looking.
As with most movies I've seen the American version lacks depth and punch.
