I've had the privilege of viewing this film on the silver screen, as a part of a Serbian Film Festival. Since I don't get to see many foreign films on the silver screen, It was a rare treat.
As I find it to be the case with many foreign films, the art direction in this film is wonderful. It was a little less flamboyant then "Les Temps des Gitanes" but breathtaking nevertheless. The storyline was pretty good, but I found it to be a little jumpy. Also, it somewhat resembled Wuthering Heights. However, it had a unique Balkan spin, and half the theatre was in tears by the end. The comic relief was superb and not only suited toward Balkan understanding as the non-Balkans found it quite humorous as well.
This is not a film without faults, but its virtues surpass its shortcomings by far.
Rating (out of 5)
