When I first saw this game, I thought that this character was a rip- off of Captain Falcon. Now, that I own the game. He's far from that.
Graphics: Cel graphics again! Seems to me that they're becoming a trend. The graphics are great for a movie set scene. The backgrounds look like they're cardboard cut outs and you can so the ripples of the guns from the tanks and cowboys. When your VFX gauge runs out, the scene will turn into an old movie film which looks great even.
Controls: The controls are very good. They're right where you'd need them. It's very easy to do the special abilities even.
Gameplay: With the combination of Slow, Mach and Zoom, you have to fight through hordes and hordes of Bianckies. In additin, the game is filled with puzzles that require you to use your powers to manipulate the area around you (Like using Slow to have a propeller powered platform to drop)
Sound: The sound is crisp. The music is tuned in. Nothing more to say
Replayability: After you with Kids mode, you do Adult mode. After Adult mode, you do V-Rated mode which is hard mode. After V-Rated mode, you do Ultra V-Rated mode which is extremely difficult. Not to mention, you can unlock different characters and stories for the game too.
Final View: This is a great game made up by Capcom. Very orginal, highly impressive. Get this game if you're an action fan or if you're a Megaman fan. You will enjoy this game!

Viewtiful Joe is a hard game. The quicker tempered of you will probably stick your fist through your TV screen whilst fighting some of the hard as nails bosses.
It's hard, and it's punishing, but you wont want to stop 'til you can whipe that smerk off of Capcom's (the guys who made the game) smug face. You know they're laughing at you, you know that they're sniggering at your embarrassing reaction speeds and you know that they're placing bets with each other on how long it'll take their level or boss to BREAK YOUR ASS!
Games these days simply whore themselves off to you, they're cheap and they're easy. Which is why developers reward your play time with a 20 minute FMV sequence as a reward. Viewtiful Joe is different. Okay, so it still rewards you with a nice ending movie but completing the game is a reward in itself. The pride you'll get from completing the game is better than any stupid ending movie.
Unless you're playing on the easy mode... in which case, you make me sick.

- TriviaA parody of superheroes created by Shotaro Ishinomori:
- Kamen Rider (1971) (the show that started the posing, morphing superhero craze in Japan since the 70s), who also transforms by doing a pose and saying "Henshin!" (Japanese for "transform")
- Joe does the same exact "henshin" pose as the title hero in Kamen Rider V3 (1973), the very first sequel show to Kamen Rider (1971).
- The face section of Joe's helmet opens and closes just like that of the title hero, Kaiketsu Zubat (1977), which Joe more closely resembles.
- GoofsAfter the fight with Alastor, Joe finds inspiration for his name from Alastor's comments on his fighting. Before the fight, however, Alastor shows Joe the script for the game with the Viewtiful Joe on the cover.
- Alternate versionsIn December 2003, the game was re-released in Japan under the name "Viewtiful Joe Revival". This version contains an additional playing mode, called "Sweet Mode", which is easier than all the modes in the original version.
