DC Studios kicked off last year by revealing the "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" Dcu slate. The downside was it told people that 2023's Dceu movies didn't matter and, for the most part, they ended up flopping.

Reviews also weren't overly kind and the DC brand is now very nearly damaged beyond repair (even Joker: Folie à Deux looks set to underperform at the box office this weekend). As a result, it's up to James Gunn and Peter Safran to turn things around. 

However, as the Dcu slate continues to expand - without a single one of their movies playing in theaters - it's time to look back at how "Gods and Monsters" has evolved. There are good and bad elements and a great many unanswered questions.

The Arkham trilogy concluded with Batman: Arkham Knight in 2015 and, in the years that followed, rumours swirled persistently about what Rocksteady Studios' next game would be. 

We'd banked on it revolving around Superman; instead, it was Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, a poorly-received live-service title which received negative reviews from fans and critics, lost a lot of money, and has been largely forgotten in the months since its release.

According to a new rumour (via GameFragger.com), Rocksteady plans to return to a familiar well with another Batman game...which may end up being a PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 6 exclusive.

Job listings confirmed the studio started work on a new title earlier this summer and bringing the Caped Crusader back to consoles to recoup what they lost on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League makes all the sense in the world.

According to Nexus Point News, DC Studios has turned to Andy Muschietti and Rodo Sayagues to write the screenplay for The Brave and the Bold. 

Muschietti remains attached to direct and, interestingly, James Gunn appears to have turned to two filmmakers with serious horror experience for this reboot. Grant Morrison's Batman and Robin run included scary elements, including Professor Pyg, the twisted Simon Hurt, and Man-Bat.

Sayagues' other credits include Don't Breathe and its sequel, while Muschietti is currently working on Max's It spin-off, Welcome to Derry.
