Skyrim is in no way a stranger to formidable and oftentimes legendary weapons. However, even among them, the Wuuthrad stands out, not only for the might it possesses but also for the acts committed with it.

It's no secret that Warner Bros. Games is currently in a really difficult position. Not only did they have to cancel their live-service fighting title, MultiVersus, but they also axed Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League earlier than expected — losing a total of $300 million in the process. As if that wasn't enough, we haven't had any update on the development of Monolith's Wonder Woman, even when it was announced all the way back in December 2021. Besides, rumors have suggested that WB Games Montreal has been hard at work on a DC property, yet the studio remains radio-silent after the disastrous release of Gotham Knights.
With such a streak of discouraging news, we need to ask the question: What's really going on behind the curtains? Well, we might finally have an answer, but it's one that isn't reassuring in the slightest... except for one bright spot.

Batman made his first official appearance in the Dcu, with a brief cameo that proves how much James Gunn truly understands the Dark Knight. Gunn, now at the helm of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, has been tasked with rebooting the Dcu's future. The revamped universe has unveiled the Dcu’s Superman and has finally proffered a first glimpse at the Caped Crusader, with a brief appearance in Creature Commandos episode 6.
As the first installment of the Dcu Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, Creature Commandos offers a fresh tone for the Dcu while exploring quirky, lesser-known characters. This animated series focuses on a ragtag team of supernatural operatives, blending humor, horror, and action. However, one of its most electrifying moments came with the inclusion of Gotham’s Caped Crusader, marking the first official appearance of the new Batman in the Dcu.

Batman's problems in Gotham can't be solved as easily as calling the Justice League. For many, it's perplexing to see Batman carrying out his mission to save Gotham like a one-man army when he's a card-carrying Justice League founder. Sure, he has the Bat-Family to help, but when DC's quintessential super-team is a distress call away, that should presumably fix all the city's problems in one fell swoop.
Batman: Dark Age #5 by Mark Russell and Michael Allred goes a long way to reiterate how and why the Justice League cannot be the Dark Knight's - or any superhero's - one-stop shop to solve their own personal problems. Batman comes to the League pleading with his friends for help in Gotham, and because there are more pressing matters at hand, the Justice League is forced to turn their friend down.

We’ve already had Resident Evil 4 reimagined as a 2D Run n’ Gun, but how about an isometric shooter “with a sprinkle of body horror” thrown in? That’s what you’re getting with
Nocturnal Interactive’s Scarlet Lake, which just had a demo release on Steam.
Scarlet Lake centres around Ben Murphy, whose missing wife sends him a message to come to the town of Scarlet Lake, a small mining town of about 200 people. Ben suspects that something sinister is going on, particularly when the small town is known by the locals for being under restrictions by the government. Nevertheless, Ben heads out to investigate.
Hearkening back to Origins’ cult action-shooter Crusader series, Scarlet Lake features combat akin to over the shoulder survival horror, but from an isometric perspective, and featuring classic Survival Horror tropes. That means you’ll be dealing with limited inventory space, and have to...

Comic book movies often struggle with adapting certain aspects of their beloved superheroes, with many scenes causing controversy due to their departure from source material. There's nothing wrong with comic book movies making changes to an existing story, a practice widely accepted as a necessity when it comes to condensing lengthy comic runs into two-hour runtimes. However, in certain cases, films will present scenes that seem to fundamentally oppose a given character's established personality, making for divisive reactions.
In some cases, these scenes will present a moment so out-of-character for a given comic book hero or villain that they're hard to swallow, even as a loose adaptation, fundamentally misunderstanding the appeal of the source material. In other instances, superhero movies will eschew the comics entirely, making essentially brand-new creations that only share the name of a comic book. With how beloved comic book characters can be, it's no wonder these...

Supernatural has numerous episodes that take place in alternate universes, and one of them sees Sam and Dean Winchester existing in the same one as Batman. Although Supernatural has its share of serious episodes, the CW series makes sure to lighten the mood throughout its 15-season run. Sam and Dean's journey has plenty of humorous moments to balance the tragic ones, and it occasionally embraces off-the-wall storytelling that helps it stand out among other great supernatural TV shows.
Some of the wildest episodes of Supernatural see the Winchesters living a twisted version of Groundhog Day, hopping from TV channel to TV channel, and starring in an in-universe version of their own show. These meta installments always leave an impression, and many of them make up the best Supernatural episodes overall. They throw Sam and Dean into some truly bizarre and hilarious scenarios. Warning: Contains potential spoilers for Absolute Batman #1!
As DCs All In initiative reinvents their classic characters, it could be making Alfred Pennyworth the first villain of Batman's new era. The Absolute Universe is rewriting the history of Bruce Wayne with several bold swings, and one of the biggest is his relationship with Alfred. Since this version of the character doesnt have traditional Wayne family wealth, Absolute Batman has grown up without his butler, ally, and father figure.

With all due respect to Bozo and Pennywise, pop culture’s most popular clown is probably Joker, Batman’s archvillain who started making the Caped Crusader’s life hell back in 1940. That’s when the so-called Clown Prince of Crime first appeared in comic books, quickly becoming the Caped Crusader’s top nemesis — and, along the way, the most iconic of all superhero baddies. When Tim Burton hatched his Batman in 1989, the Joker was the villain. The most acclaimed and commercially successful of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy was The Dark Knight, which featured Heath Ledger’s Oscar-winning performance as the Joker. Jared Leto’s Joker in Suicide Squad was universally loathed — as was the film — but even that movie made bank. And, of course, 2019’s Joker brought in more than a billion dollars worldwide, going on to win Joaquin Phoenix an Oscar. We as a society may be racked with a fear of clowns,...

DC Studios kicked off last year by revealing the "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" Dcu slate. The downside was it told people that 2023's Dceu movies didn't matter and, for the most part, they ended up flopping.
Reviews also weren't overly kind and the DC brand is now very nearly damaged beyond repair (even Joker: Folie à Deux looks set to underperform at the box office this weekend). As a result, it's up to James Gunn and Peter Safran to turn things around.
However, as the Dcu slate continues to expand - without a single one of their movies playing in theaters - it's time to look back at how "Gods and Monsters" has evolved. There are good and bad elements and a great many unanswered questions.
You can read through this in-depth breakdown of where things stand with DC Studios by clicking the "Next"/"View List" buttons below.

The Arkham trilogy concluded with Batman: Arkham Knight in 2015 and, in the years that followed, rumours swirled persistently about what Rocksteady Studios' next game would be.
We'd banked on it revolving around Superman; instead, it was Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, a poorly-received live-service title which received negative reviews from fans and critics, lost a lot of money, and has been largely forgotten in the months since its release.
According to a new rumour (via GameFragger.com), Rocksteady plans to return to a familiar well with another Batman game...which may end up being a PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 6 exclusive.
Job listings confirmed the studio started work on a new title earlier this summer and bringing the Caped Crusader back to consoles to recoup what they lost on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League makes all the sense in the world.

The good news is — fall is here, and TV is finally back!
But the bad news is that a terrible brain parasite seems to have infected the network execs in charge of scheduling this year’s new shows.
Okay, that might be a little harsh, but something weird is going on here, and we intend to get to the bottom of it!

The trouble started last week when the pilot episode of The Penguin completely knocked our socks off.
(Sorry for the poor choice of words. The less said about the scene where Colin Farrel removes his socks, the better.)
Now, as a TV site that seeks to promote discussion — and as fans who love to see a show flourish via word of mouth — we’re generally opposed to the Netflix/Hulu habit of releasing entire seasons all at once.

This month marks the 15th anniversary of Batman: Arkham Asylum: the universally acclaimed video game developed by Rocksteady Studios that started an entire gaming franchise. Loosely inspired by Grant Morrison and Dave McKean’s best-selling graphic novel Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth, the 2009 game has DC Comics’ iconic superhero take on the Joker and a whole host of escaped inmates when they take over Gotham City’s asylum for the criminally insane. Over the course of a single, long night, Batman moves to stop the supervillains and their private army from wiping out the personnel trapped on the island as he moves to stop the Joker’s most dastardly plot yet.

Batman: Caped Crusader disregards the rules from Batman: The Animated Series to explore adult themes. The series features things like drinking, hand guns, and drugs, creating a realistic and dark Batman world. Caped Crusader breaking conventions ensures its world is different to The Animated Series, despite similarities between the two shows.

Other teases regarding the series suggest Batman is set for a redemption arc in the plot, allowing his character more overall growth. Batman starting out a deeply flawed and isolationist character who grows over time is a storyline that has happened many times in the comics, movies and shows.
Batman: Caped Crusader has set up a classically flawed version of the DC hero - and I'm genuinely excited to see this iteration debut. The Batman animated series is taking a lot of interesting new angles when it comes to the Caped Crusader cast of characters, promising fresh perspectives on the likes of Two-Face, Harley Quinn, and Clayface.

Bruce Timm is widely regarded as the singular figure who has had the most impact on the DC Comics animated offerings. Since he started off an illustrious career with the global giants via Batman: Mask of the Phantasm back in 1993, Timm has been related to some of the most iconic animated series, especially when it comes to the character of Batman.

In 2024, several DC villains are set to appear in multiple projects within the DC Universe. Here's a list of some of the most notable villains and the actors who will be playing them: Harley Quinn, played by Kaley Cuoco, Jamie Chung, and Lady Gaga. Harley Quinn appears in Harley Quinn, Batman: Caped Crusader, Joker: Folie Deux, and Kite Man: Hell Yeah! Penguin, played by Colin Farrell and an unknown actor. The Penguin appears in The Penguin and Batman: Caped Crusader.
2024 is a big year for DC, particularly Batman and the associated villains from his Rogues Gallery, with dozens of villains popping up across several projects. Ahead of the Dcu officially debuting in live action in 2025 with James Gunn's Superman, 2024 is the year of Batman and the villains that terrorize Arkham and beyond. Batman: Caped Crusader features a unique Two-Face design, differing from traditional DC appearances. The series aims to distinguish itself from other Batman adaptations with character tweaks. Two-Face's redesign may imply a different character interpretation, impacting the story.
Batman: Caped Crusader will feature a whole host of villains from the rogues gallery, but one character is appearing in a way that has never been seen before. The new animated series has been in the works since 2021 when it was first announced, but after several delays and setbacks, the show is finally dropping on Amazon Prime Video. Originally intended to be released on HBO Max, the series hit a roadblock when the Dceu was retired, and many of the projects from DC were halted.
Now, the series finally has a full cast, with incredible voice talent, and an opportunity to deliver another exciting animated Batman project akin to Batman: The Animated Series.

The first trailer for Batman: Caped Crusader, a new animated series produced by Matt Reeves, Bruce Timm, and J.J. Abrams, has been released. Batman: Caped Crusader will be J.J. Abrams' first DC project produced with Warner Bros., despite him entering a deal with the studio five years ago. J.J. Abrams' Black Superman movie is also still in development, but the true extent of Abrams' relationship with Warner Bros. has been under scrutiny.

A shadowy figure moves through Gotham City, casting a menacing silhouette across walls and buildings. An old-timey television squawks questions at the viewer, asking, “What do you think about the Bat-Man?”
That description could fit almost any episode of the Batman: The Animated Series, still the best superhero cartoon ever made. However, it comes from the first trailer for Batman: Caped Crusader, the new cartoon series about the early days of the Dark Knight’s battle against crime.
The similarities between Caped Crusader and B:tas aren’t an accident. Both come from Bruce Timm, the artist whose designs made B:tas, Superman: The Animated Series, and Justice League so iconic. Timm returns to the character as the chief creative for Caped Crusader, alongside J.J. Abrams and The Batman director Matt Reeves as producers.

Hamish Linklater will voice Batman in Batman: Caped Crusader, aiming to uphold Conroy's legacy. Linklater's distinct voice is reminiscent of Conroy's, fitting for a young and inexperienced Batman. The series will serve as an origin story that delves into the psychological depths of Gotham.

Glen Powell's star is on the rise. After wowing moviegoers with Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You, he'll take centre stage this summer in Hit Man and Twisters. Surely a superhero role is next?

Taking a journalist on a tour of the Warner Bros. lot, Powell pointed out the new Superman logo on the door of James Gunn's office. However, he wasn't among the actors who tried out for the Dcu's new Man of Steel.
"But I was on the set of Twisters with [newly-anointed Clark Kent] David Corenswet when he got the call," he reveals. "He’s a hustler and he deserves it."

Batman: The Caped Crusader has gotten fans excited about Bruce Timm’s novel take on the Dark Knight. The animated show will take Bruce Wayne and other aspects of the Batman mythos and set them in the 40s, a time when Batman’s modern gadgets and gizmos simply did not exist.
Batman: Caped Crusader
Apart from Batman being stripped of all his gadgets, Caped Crusader will also be giving its other characters a slick 40’s makeover, among which is Selina Kyle, also known as Catwoman. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bruce Timm, co-creator of the show, revealed how the design of Catwoman was made distinct from her previous iterations.

Bruce Timm talked about how the characters that he and his team were introducing Caped Crusader needed to be different and feel as dated as the time they were in.

Many have argued that the themes explored in the acclaimed trilogy are a bit more right-leaning, especially the threequel The Dark Knight Rises is considered to be the most political of them all.
However, according to the man himself, The Dark Knight trilogy is not supposed to be political but about the upending of society. But not everyone is convinced by the Oscar-winner’s explanation.

While there have been many recognizable stars who have played Batman on screen, the credit for the distinctive voice of the character in various animated series and video games goes to the late Kevin Conroy. Beginning his stint with Batman: The Animated Series in 1992, Conroy went on to voice the iconic superhero in many television series and video games for over 3 decades.

Arguably the best Batman and Joker combo in history is getting back together one last time, and the reunion comes as a pretty sizable surprise. Mark Hamill will once again reprise his role as The Joker alongside the late Kevin Conroy's Batman. Conroy voiced the Caped Crusader for decades, from "Batman: The Animated Series" in the early '90s through Conroy's much-too-early death in 2022. We knew Conroy's voice would be used as Batman once again, and now it has been confirmed that Hamill will be reuniting with his former co-star in one of Conroy's final posthumous performances.
According to IGN, Hamill's Joker and Conroy's Batman are both set to appear in the upcoming "Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths -- Part Three." Batman's animated TV series history is just as successful and diverse as his big-screen ventures. From campy to dark and brooding, there's a Batman animated show for every taste over the decades. With more DC animated shows and movies on the horizon, The Dark Knight's TV legacy continues to thrive.
Batman may be one of DC's most successful and prolific superheroes on the big screen, but the Caped Crusader has an equally - if not more - successful history in animated television series. While the character has been the star of acclaimed films such as The Dark Knight trilogy, many children grew up watching Bruce Wayne take on a wide range of foes one 30-minute segment at a time. The Batmobile That Laughs, driven by the twisted version of Batman known as the Batman Who Laughs, is one of the most sinister and intimidating creations in the DC Universe. This version of the Batmobile is visually striking, with flame vents, spiked wheels, a captive container, and a maniacal smiling grill that reflects the Joker's sadism. With the expectation that the Batman Who Laughs will continue to be a central antagonist, future storylines should feature the Batmobile That Laughs more prominently, emphasizing its deadly gadgets and accessories.

Batman breaks his "no-kill" rule by using a high-tech chainsaw to eliminate a group of aliens. This exception to his moral code highlights Batman's ethical boundary as a "don't-kill-humans" rule. The hypocrisy of Batman's stance is revealed, as he criticizes Red Hood for his lethal approach while making exceptions himself.
Batman has debuted a new weapon, promptly using it to eliminate a throng of aliens, showcasing the flexible nature of his "no-kill" rule. Instances like these underscore the irony of Bruce reprimanding his estranged son Red Hood for violating the same rule in the pursuit of justice in Gotham.

This groundbreaking expedition throws Batman into the fray of hostile extraterrestrials and also unveils a gripping moment of departure from his usual "no-kill" rule.

The big screen has seen various live-action versions of Batman, some more successful than others, and while the Dcu brings back Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck’s versions in The Flash, in a different universe Robert Pattinson played Bruce Wayne in the movie simply titled The Batman.

The Clown Prince of Crime will never wreak havoc on Gotham again — at least not through one of his most famous portrayers. Mark Hamill has reiterated that he won’t return to play The Joker so long as Kevin Conroy is not his Batman.
As per a Q & A at Fan Expo San Francisco, Mark Hamill said his days of voicing The Joker are a thing of the past, telling attendees that he “won’t voice the role unless it’s opposite Kevin Conroy’s Batman.” He added, “Without Batman, crime has no punchline,” quoting the episode “The Man Who Killed Batman” from Batman: The Animated Series, the first time he played The Joker. This doubles down on previous statements Hamill made about reprising The Joker in relation to Conroy. “They would call and say, ‘They want you to do the Joker,’ and my only question was, ‘Is Kevin Batman?...

Sleater-Kinney have shared the details of Little Rope, their upcoming album out January 19th via Loma Vista. They’re celebrating the news with its lead single “Hell,” out now, along with an extensive run of 2024 tour dates.
The follow-up to 2021’s Path of Wellness is billed as “one of the finest, most delicately layered records” in Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein’s prolific discography. But in its complex, ambitious instrumentation is an unimaginable tragedy: Last fall, Brownstein received a call from Italian embassy staff with the news that both her mother and stepfather had been killed in a car accident during a vacation.
Some of Little Rope had been written at that point, but as Brownstein and Tucker brought the material to the studio, all the music they put to tape became imbued with grief. With each vocal harmony and guitar riff, the album navigates loss — not just its initial pang,...
