The series aired on the CBC in Canada throughout it's run. It briefly aired in the United States on Nickelodeon from 1989-1992.
Fred Penner often wrote original songs the night before or the day of filming an episode.
Early in the shows run, Fred Penner performed many cover songs. In later years, this would gradually change to original songs to avoid copyright issues.
The inside of the hollow log was lined with carpet to make it easier for Fred and his guests to crawl through.
