In the Samurai scene, when Lance pulls out the breakable wood the next couple of camera shots alternate showing the wood being precut and not being precut.
When Sophia starts the recorder when listening to the lady at the retirement home, she doesn't press the record button down, so it would actually be playing back the tape.
