The live-action movie for Ya Boy Kongming! (Paripi Kōmei) just dropped a brand-new trailer and poster, revealing more of the cast and teasing an exciting lineup of songs. The film is set to hit theaters on April 25, 2025 and takes place at the ‘Music Battle Awards 2025,’ where Japan’s biggest music labels go head-to-head.

A key highlight is the song lineup. The main character Eiko, played by Moka Kamishiraishi, performs the insert song ‘Count on me,’ written by Shinya Ishihara from the band SaucyDog. Utaha from Wednesday’s Campanella plays Shin and sings ‘again and again,’ a song composed by Sōshi Sakiyama.

Mia Iriomote, played by Koharu Sugawara, will perform ‘New Zone,’ a track composed by Zo Zhit of Dos Monos. The ending theme, ‘Sing along!!!,’ is composed by Lilas Ikuta, known as ikura from Yoasobi. She previously wrote the song ‘Dreamer’ for the live-action series.

The official website for the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Yuto Yotsuba (story) and Ryo Ogawa's (art) comedy manga Ya Boy Kongming! (known as Paripi Koumei in Japan) released a main trailer featuring the theme song "Count on me" performed by Eiko, played by Moka Mamishiraishi . This is her first song for the live-action series in a year and a half since "Dreamer," an insert song for the TV drama in 2023. Ya Boy Kongming! "The song 'Count on me,' which I newly wrote for the film, expresses the feeling of moving forward and moving with the music itself while putting Eiko's feelings first," said Ishihara. Dexter: Resurrection has booked another familiar name.

Peter Dinklage, who famously played Tyrion Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones, has joined Michael C. Hall on his Dexter: Resurrection cast murder board.

Dinklage, in a series regular role, will play Leon Prater, a billionaire venture capitalist. To the world, Leon is a generous philanthropist, but behind his polished exterior lies dark intrigue, reads his character description.

He joins the previously announced cast of Uma Thurman and returning Dexter franchise stars David Zayas, James Remar and Jack Alcott.

Martin Scorsese honored “A Star Is Born” actor and nine-time Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson, saying that the pair’s collaborative effort on the 1974 romantic comedy “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore” was “one of the highlights of [his] life.”

“Right now, I’m on a small boat between Ustica and Palermo, listening to ‘Me and Bobby McGee,’ remembering Kris Kristofferson,” the filmmaker said in a statement to media. “Just like half of the world. I was lucky enough to work with Kris. He was a poet. Truly. Inside and out. And a damn good actor, a remarkable screen presence. Spending time with Kris when we made ‘Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore’ was one of the highlights of my life.”

The musician died in his Maui home on Saturday at 88 years old, a representative for the performer shared with TheWrap. Since then, Hollywood stars shared tributes to the star, paying tribute to and remembering Kristofferson’s impactful career.

Now, Square Enix is hard at work developing the next mainline entry, Dragon Quest Xii: The Flames of Fate . Square Enix is also working on a remake of Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation . This remake is in the HD-2D style, similar to games like Octopath Traveler and the Live a Live remake. While this game is the third in the series, Dragon Quest III is chronologically the first in the original Dragon Quest trilogy. I was able to check out a one-hour demo of the Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake and it has the charm of an old school-rpg but with modern quality-of-life features. It’ll please veteran fans of the series but also appeal to new fans.

The sixth season of the animated series “Rick and Morty” will be available to stream on HBO Max starting on May 11, and in terms of library titles the “Men in Black” trilogy, the comedies “Step Brothers” and “Some Like It Hot” and Jonah Hill’s directorial debut “Mid90s” all come to HBO and HBO Max this month.

Wait a minute, you might be asking, isn’t HBO Max supposed to be “Max” now? How then, am I seeing a list of HBO Max new releases for May 2023? Well spotted, dear reader. Warner Bros. Discovery did indeed recently reveal that it would be rebranding its combined HBO Max and Discovery+ streaming service as just Max. As the company notes in its press release for May though, that change doesn’t take effect until May 23. What follows is a list of everything coming to HBO Max through May 22.

The biggest releases this month are two TV series that arrive at the beginning of May. White House Plumbers is a comedic take on the infamous Watergate scandal starring Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux. That will be followed by season 3 of The Other Two, which I personally consider the funniest show on television. Catch up now before it’s too late!

HBO Max will officially be replaced by Warner Bros. Discovery on May 23 with a new and improved service called Max. However, that doesn’t mean the service is scrimping on content until then. One of the biggest new releases of the month is the new limited series “White House Plumbers,” which will premiere on May 1. Starring Woody Harrelson as E. Howard Hunt and Justin Theroux as G. Gordon Liddy, the pair portray two real-life Watergate burglars and Nixon saboteurs who ended up destroying the very president they desperately wanted to serve.

Although we’re well into The Flash’s final season, the show appears to be taking a breather before gearing up for its last run (pun absolutely intended) with a handful of what showrunner Eric Wallace likes to call “interludes,” quieter installments that tend to focus on smaller stories or highlight the show’s supporting characters. “Wildest Dreams” isn’t an hour that necessarily moves the plot of the season forward all that much—though it does touch once again on Iris’ emotional discomfort with the idea of her future being a set path that doesn’t allow her to make her own choices—but it’s a great example of the deft interconnectivity that has always been a hallmark of The CW’s Arrowverse.

The “Babylon” breakout star and “Euphoria” heartthrob are set to star in Daniel Minahan’s adaptation of “On Swift Horses.” Calva teased to Variety that he has some “pretty hot scenes” with Elordi.

Mexico’s Yalitza Aparicio, Oscar nominated for her career-launching turn in Alfonso Cuaron’s “Roma,” and Infinity Hill, producers of the Oscar-nominated Argentine drama “Argentina 1985,” have boarded sweatshop thriller “City of Dreams” (previously titled “Dreamer”) as executive producers.

The drama features a stellar cast that includes Golden Globe nominee Diego Calva (“Babylon”), Chile’s Alfredo Castro (“From Afar”), Mexico’s Paulina Gaitán (“Narcos”) and Jason Patric (“The Lost Boys”).

The directorial feature debut of helmer-scribe Mohit Ramchandani, “City of Dreams” is produced by Mexican filmmaker Luis Mandoki (“Innocent Voices), Jon Graham (“The Vault”) and Kyle Stroud (“In Full Bloom”).

Ivory Aquino has been cast in the HBO Max feature film “Batgirl” as Alysia Yeoh, the best friend of the titular superhero, a.k.a. Barbara Gordon (Leslie Grace).

Both Aquino and Yeoh are transgender, marking the first time a live-action feature film adaptation of a DC Comics title will feature an openly trans character. Yeoh first appeared in a 2011 issue of “Batgirl” written by Gail Simone and penciled by Ardian Syaf.

Part Cat Grant-origin story, part sales pitch for a Dreamer (and Brainy?) spin-off, Olivia Nikkanen (young Alex) and Izabela Vidovic (young Kara) continue to wholly embody Chyler Leigh and Melissa Benoist to an eerily impressive level. For her part, Chyler Leigh herself made her directorial debut in an episode that was so good, Brainy even happy-cried.
