2025 will be a huge year for Marvel's First Family as the team makes its long-awaited MCU debut in next July's The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Now, Marvel Comics has announced a new initiative which will see the heroes take over Marvel history in a whopping 24 "Homage" variant covers.

Illustrated by some of today's leading artists, these covers place the Fantastic Four, their beloved supporting cast, and their most legendary villains in recreations of iconic Marvel comic covers.

We see Invisible Woman as the best there is in a Wolverine #1 homage, Mister Fantastic web-swing as Spidey in an Amazing Spider-Man #300 homage, Doctor Doom unleash the power of the Infinity Stones in a nod to The Infinity Gauntlet, and much more.

The only real runaway success was 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home which brought together two decades worth of Spider-Man films in one package with both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield teaming up with Tom Holland in a multiverse adventure. 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine also did rather well and also had a multiverse storyline bringing back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

With Avengers: Doomsday set to begin production in a matter of months, we're bracing ourselves for a lot of rumours about Marvel Studios' plans for that and Avengers: Secret Wars heading into the New Year.

There's already a lot of chatter online about both projects; the consensus right now seems to be that Doomsday will pit Earth 616's Mightiest Heroes against Doctor Doom before a roster of Multiversal characters assemble in the Battleworld-set sequel.

It's also been claimed that Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man will have a major role in Secret Wars, with Tom Holland's Peter Parker currently set as Doomsday's lead.

Today, @MyTimeToShineH commented on a Gif of them and Tobey Maguire's web-slinger by saying, "They’ll be forced to face off against each other in Secret Wars."

This could be (another) lucky guess or a hint that Secret Wars will be less an adaptation of the 2015 story...

Because it’s always got to be the story.” It’s unclear what this secret project was, but perhaps they’ll return to it once they wrap up Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

After months of speculation, Sony Pictures has confirmed that Spider-Man 4 will be released in theaters on July 26, 2026. We've long suspected the date was being saved for the web-slinger as Marvel Studios removed an untiled movie from that weekend some time ago.

It's also been confirmed that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton will helm the movie.

What's so interesting about this release date? For starters, this means it's coming out right between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Unless it takes place before the former (which is unlikely given that Tom Holland is expected to be Doomsday's lead), chances are this story will take place in whatever's left after Earth's Mightiest Heroes clash with Doctor Doom.
