The property the director looked for had to be a house of a very rich guy but with level and charisma. What they found was too small so they had to (temporarily) add the first floor (Anthony Zimmer's office). The filming crew had the villa only for two weeks.
In 2010 the film was remade under the title The Tourist with Johnny Depp and Angelina in the lead roles. The plot had significant changes such as the origin of the illicit money, locations and character names, but the plot development is the same.
