This takes the goodness of an RPG and crosses it with the American trend of real-time combat, packed up in a cute anime-style package. The game's combat system is innovative: in order to put out any reasonable damage, your mêlée fighters have to time combos by pressing the attack buttons at the right moment. The combat is marred slightly by an easy first-person style for your ranged characters: even teleporting enemies have trouble keeping up with them.
The puzzles and dungeons contain enough challenges to satisfy the thinking player, while the chance of being attacked at virtually any second can keep you on your toes. Fight arenas are not easy to pick, so you can sometimes get surprised at the worst of times, but this adds to the challenge.
One factor which adds immensely to the entertainment factor of the game is the way your party members aren't perfect friends. The bickering and jokes at other member's expense can have you chortling for hours on end. The game is a little bit short, but not too bad.
Nice piece of work by Climax!
