As Marvel Studios continues to build towards the culmination of the Multiverse Saga, excitement is at an all-time high for the stories that are about to be told. That has a lot to do with the fact that, after a series of ups and downs, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is finally back on track with success stories like Deadpool and Wolverine and Disney Plus' Agatha All Along. The announcement that the next Avengers movie would be bringing back MCU veteran Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom was just the icing on the cake.
With the saga once again a must-see event, there are a number of titles that the studio has clearly been building towards for some time now. The potential for some of these titles was always there, but it's only since the Multiverse Saga began that we have seen them begin to come to fruition. And one of those is that long-awaited,...

Anything can happen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We've said it plenty throughout the years, but the likelihood of anything happening has increased tenfold due to the limitless possibilities of the franchise's ongoing Multiverse Saga. And we do mean limitless, for the franchise has managed to find a way to bring in characters from before its own existence, merging worlds and crossing characters over to showcase the extent of the possibilities within the universes they encounter.
One thing that the MCU has always been able to do is bring some of the biggest and most beloved Marvel characters back from the dead. From the return of Loki in recent years (due to an alternate timeline's variation escaping from his time) to the subsequent returns of all the dusted characters in Avengers: Endgame, the MCU can make all kinds of magic happen.

The mystery of Teen's origins in Agatha All Along have been at the center of the series long before it even began. Ever since Joe Locke was cast in the role, rumors about his character's potential origins have made their way around the internet as Marvel fans speculated about the possibility of Wiccan joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The fifth episode of the Disney Plus series confirmed as much, when Teen used his powers for the first time, sending Agatha Harkness, Lilia Calderu, and Jennifer Kale into the mud on the side of the Witches' Road. He also did some nifty mind control, just like his mother Wanda Maximoff did during her first appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It was a reveal that many predicted but no one truly saw coming in that particular moment.

The seventh instalment in the long-running found footage franchise, V/H/S/Beyond, sees the series change its focus somewhat, from straight forward horror to a science fiction/horror hybrid. While it doesn’t quite follow Jason and the Leprechaun into space, most of the segments do involve aliens or other sci-fi elements.
Directed by Jay Cheel the film’s wraparound “Abduction, Adduction” begins that trend as Mitch Horowitz, host of Alien Encounters: Fact or Fiction, hosts an investigation of a pair of VHS tapes allegedly found at a flea market, and said to be proof of alien visitation.
That segues into “Stork”, directed by Jordan Downey who co-wrote it with Kevin Stewart based on artwork by Oleg Vdovenko.

This week's episode of Agatha All Along, titled "Familiar By Thy Side," begins at the celebration of young William Kaplan's "Magick Mitzvah." His parents watch on proud as punch and he later celebrates becoming a man alongside his friends.
William enters a palm reader's tent and encounters Lilia Calderu. She sees that a long journey lies ahead of him, but the lights flicker when she notices his lifeline is broken in two. She puts it down to William's coming of age but after spouting another seemingly random sentence writes that familiar sigil on a small stone and places it in his jacket pocket.
An emergency alert reveals that something strange is happening with the anomaly in Westview; everyone is ordered to head home and, while the radio plays snippets of the sitcoms we saw in WandaVision, the Hex comes down...and the car William and his parents are in crashes.

Since its inception, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been full of surprises. No one could have predicted the success of “Iron Man” back in 2008. Then, after the Avengers were assembled, there was no way to tell that the Guardians of the Galaxy would be the next big superhero team. Now, they’re so well known that there are two theme park attractions based on their adventures. And when it comes to “WandaVision,” the first Marvel Studios show to debut on the then-brand new streaming service Disney+, who would have thought that Agatha Harkness would be among the biggest breakout characters from the cast? Though she is steeped in Marvel history thanks to connections to the Fantastic Four and Wanda Maximoff, the powerful witch was a relatively obscure piece of the Marvel puzzle until Kathryn Hahn brought her to life in the 2021 streaming series. True Believers simply fell in love with...

“Star Trek: Picard” actor Todd Stashwick has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Vision” series, according to an insider with knowledge of the project.
Stashwick is reuniting with his “Star Trek” executive producer Terry Matalas, who is the showrunner for the untitled project, which will see the return of actor Paul Bettany as Vision. James Spader also recently joined the cast as supervillain Ultron.
After dying at the hands of Thanos in 2018’s “Avengers: Infinity War,” Vision was recreated by a grieving Wanda Maximoff’s (Elizabeth Olsen) magic. Additionally, a separate white version of Vision was rebuilt by S.W.O.R.D. after his body was recovered from Wakanda. After the two Visions battled in the “WandaVision” finale, White Vision’s memories were restored and he immediately flew off. Meanwhile, the Vision manifested by Wanda faded from existence after she chose to drop the Hex over Westview.

To this day, video games based on movies are widely treated as kind of a joke. While many agree that there are a few exceptions to the rule, the general consensus suggests that they are largely awful cash grabs representative of another era when gamers and parents could be easily fooled into buying something if was attached to a familiar, non-gaming name. To be fair, that reputation has been forged by countless games fitting that description.
Yet, those games’ greatest sin may just be they have polluted the cultural waters for genuinely great (or at least incredibly interesting) games based on movies. Those games seem destined to be overlooked and undervalued because of their association with outside properties, which is a shame given that they should serve as guiding lights toward a better way to make these kinds of games that are far harder to find in the modern era.

Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
We’ve finally arrived at the first of ten 2023 Amityville titles! First up is writer/director Jack Hunter II’s Amityville Ride-Share, a ~60 minute found footage film featuring loosely interconnected (or not) clips.
In some ways, Ride-Share feels reminiscent of the ill-advised pandemic title Amityville Hex, which exclusively featured YouTube creators doing their take on a viral video challenge.
The difference between this and Hex, however, is that there appears to be a knowing wink of self-awareness to the material. And while that may be giving Hunter II and dialogue writer Dann Eudy too much credit, even if it is unintentional, the bizarre meta commentary about gimmicky, cash grab sequels makes Ride-Share more interesting in the long run.

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Part Two is finally upon us after the writer and actor strikes delayed the release for a few months. The hype surrounding the film is massive and the review from our own Chris Bumbray says of the film, “In this day of assembly line blockbusters, it’s a miracle that director Denis Villeneuve has managed to get not one but two incredible, uncompromised epics like this through the studio system. It works as a tentpole blockbuster, but Dune Part Two is also filmmaking at the highest level.” Josh Brolin makes his return in the second part as well, and although the Academy Award-nominated actor has sealed himself in comic book movie history as one of the greatest villains with his role as Thanos, he still makes sure to talk trash where trash is due.

Most MCU fans know the story of Wanda Maximoff by now. Forced to kill her one true love to prevent universal chaos, which then occurs anyway, Wanda travels to Westview, New Jersey. It’s there that she uses her powers to enslave the whole town, compelling them to live out her sitcom fantasy life.
When Sword agent Monica Rambeau passes through Maximoff’s Westview-engulfing Hex, she emerges with strange new abilities. This power-up will serve her well in Marvel’s next film The Marvels.

If playing as a charismatic dark magician who can summon a small army of creatures is your thing, then Warlock may be the best class in Baldur’s Gate 3 for you. Unfortunately, even the most optimistic Warlock player may soon realize that the class can sometimes struggle to find a home in the later parts of the game. Well, at least they can if you’re not using the best Warlock build.
For this build, we’re going to be focusing on a powerful multiclass Warlock that lets us get the most out of the class’ combat potential by borrowing a few attributes from Sorcerers. It’s called a “Sorclock,” and I think you’re going to love what it can do.

Josh Brolin has posed nude to emphasise a point regarding a new project he’s currently filming.

Outer Range season two had a showrunner overhaul when creator Brian Watkins stepped down following the show’s renewal in October. Charles Murray, whose credits include Sons of Anarchy and Luke Cage, is now overseeing the show.

It wasn't that long ago that Marvel Studios' plan to create a closely interconnected movie and TV universe sounded like poppycock. What if one of the films bombed or nobody tuned in for a particular show? For over a decade, the House of Ideas managed to avoid these roadblocks thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's domination of the box office, coupled with the loose -- and, if we're being honest, almost completely one-sided -- ties between the McU's movies and the live-action series produced under the now-defunct Marvel Television banner. It's why few panicked when ABC's "Inhumans" died on the way back to its home planet or Netflix's "Defenders" shows were casually picked off, slasher-style, in the lead-up to Disney+ launching.
However, now that Marvel has consolidated its movie and TV divisions under one roof, we're beginning to see the drawbacks of this approach. It was often near-impossible to...

In much of the same way that his earlier film “Hex” emerges as a bizarre updating of a popular foreign genre film before putting his own spin on things, “Curse of Evil” is director Kuei Chih-hung's updating of the 1953 genre title “The Maze.” Although originally started by director Fung Wong before taking over completely, this over-the-top movie features a roundtable collection of Shaw Brothers stars and contains just enough of Keui's trademark wackiness to be a highly enjoyable genre effort.

Josh Brolin’s career is nearing four decades, with some genuine classics and an Oscar nomination on his resume. But it is not without its duds, and if there’s one that failed the hardest, it’s undoubtedly 2010’s Jonah Hex, which found Josh Brolin as the titular DC character.

Megan Fox was the “It Girl” of the second half of the 2000s. When she showed up as the love interest in Michael Bay’s Transformers, she quickly became one of the most desired women on the planet, but Hollywood didn’t quite seem sure what to do with her for the longest time. While Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was a hit, she was famously written out of the third film. Her roles in movies like Jonah Hex fell flat, while her big star vehicle, Jennifer’s Body, was a flop – albeit one that’s been reappraised recently.
While a lot was made over the fact that she compared her Transformers director, Michael Bay, to Hitler, there seems to be no love lost between the two, with him casting her in his two big-budget Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies as April O’Neil. They failed to launch an enduring franchise,...

Time never stops. And so the once-hot revisionist takes on a neglected character get neglected themselves, and re-emerge in a new format for something like an anniversary.
Or, maybe, y’know, Jonah Hex was always a quirky character, even in the context of Bronze Age western heroes — already pretty far out on the branch of quirky and unusual — beloved by a small cult rather than particularly popular at any time.
Well, whatever.
If you’re confused, here’s the short version of a typically long and convoluted comics history: Jonah Hex was a scarred Western hero in ’70s DC comics, jumped into a post-apocalyptic future for the ’80s because all the other cool kids were doing it, and has bumped around the fringes of various DC media properties since then, mostly back in Western mode as if Hex never happened. Some of the best stories about him were three mini-series in the ’90s,...

Oscar-nominated actor Michael Fassbender ("12 Years A Slave"), at 39-years old, has the looks, chops and killer instinct to play the next big screen 'James Bond', now that dog-faced Daniel Craig has officially left the '007' movie franchise:
"To be honest with you", said Fassbender, "I think they should reboot the 'James Bond' series and go back to his origins as a soldier.
"I’ve got a great idea for it actually, so (producer) Barbara Broccoli talk to me..."
The stage-trained actor's feature film debut was the fantasy war epic "300" (2007), playing a 'Spartan' warrior.
Prior to that, he appeared in the HBO TV miniseries "Band of Brothers" (2001) and the Sky One fantasy drama "Hex" (2004–05).
He first came to prominence for his role as 'Ira' activist 'Bobby Sands' in "Hunger" (2008), for which he won a 'British Independent Film Award'.
Subsequent roles include playing a 'Royal Marines' lieutenant in "Inglourious Basterds" (2009)...

One of the less well-regarded comic book films of all time was one from only a few years ago - 2010's "Jonah Hex". A critical and commercial disaster, the $80 million budget project made just $10 million at the worldwide box-office and was the subject of scathing reviews.
Its stars Josh Brolin, Megan Fox, John Malkovich and Michael Fassbender managed to escape its stink without much damage, even so the film itself has become something of a poster child for how not to make a comic book movie. Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor ("Crank") were originally hired to write and direct but dropped out before filming and were replaced by animation director Jimmy Hayward.
Rewrites, production problems and reshoots soon followed, and it was an experience that Brolin doesn't have many fond memories of. Speaking with The Nerdist and The Frame, Brolin discussed the mess and why he signed up in the first place:

It’s been revealed today that Johnathon Schaech will play Jonah Hex in the first season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. The character is set to appear in the eleventh episode, with the possibility to then become a recurring presence.
As you probably know, this won’t be Jonah Hex’s live-action debut, as he was previously played by Josh Brolin in a critically panned film adaptation which also starred Michael Fassbender and Megan Fox. Here’s hoping that this outing goes a bit better.
For more on what to expect from Hex, check out the official description for the character, courtesy of The CW:
A true legend of the Old West, a morally ambiguous gunslinger with a penchant for danger. Surprisingly, he knows a thing or two about time travel and the future, but is at home in the Wild West. He’s been battling outlaws and gangs for awhile now,...

Last year, As If celebrated 10 years since it came to an end on Channel 4. Digital Spy looks back on the cult series, speaking to several of the main cast about their memories of the show.
As If: 10 year retrospective of the cult Channel 4 teen drama - part 1
The sad fact with As If, is that it is almost impossible to track down today. The show has never been released on DVD, due to a copyright issue with the music. Without the music, it simply wouldn't be As If.
"Given the choice between no music so we can release the DVD, I'd choose the music," said Caroline Chikezie (Sasha). "They used to say the music was the seventh cast member, it was so important. It just took it to a whole new level. I guess it's worth not having a DVD release just to keep the music."

Myths are malleable, and BBC America's "Atlantis" twists ancient ones into new shapes. The lush 13-episode series launches Saturday, Nov. 23. Set on the lost island of Atlantis, it has a filmic look and tremendous fun with Greek myths.
In this, Hercules is an overweight blowhard played by Mark Addy ("Game of Thrones"). Medusa (Jemima Rooper, "Hex"), the hideous Gorgon who had snakes for hair, is now a sweet young woman. And Jason (Jack Donnelly, "Dancing on the Edge") is a hot traveler from the present.
"What struck me most is why hasn't anyone used this material before," Rooper tells Zap2it. "They are reinventing the stories as they want."
Fittingly, the series opens at sea, with Jason on a quest to find his long-lost father, whose submarine disappeared. Jason's small sub spins out of control and crashes, and he washes up, naked, on a foreign shore.
