After leaving Havasupai, they encounter a rainstorm heavy enough to flood the road, so they turn back about 2 miles. The following morning, during the run down the mountainside, the ground is dry and dusty.
(at around 27 mins) Jessica Biel's earrings change from in the scene in the diner to hoops with dangles in the car, then back to studs in the village.
(at around 17 mins) When Johnson foresees the conversation with the FBI agent in his garage, the conversation lasts three minutes. Since the conversation never really happens, and he can only see two minutes into the future, it wouldn't have worked.
(at around 1h 11 mins) When Cris gets shot by the sniper, his arm position when he lays down changes position between shots.
(at around 2 mins) At the beginning of the film, Johnson is sitting in a diner and checks his watch on his left wrist. A moment later, when he raises his right hand to wipe sweat off his forehead, there is another watch on his right wrist.
(at around 1h 11 mins) The sniper twice tries to make a cell phone call. Both times he gets three tones and a recorded message telling him, "Your call cannot be completed as dialed. Check the number and dial again." Between attempts his phone's LCD reports "NO SERVICE" because previously all cell service was shut down. Such recordings can only come from the service; they're not embedded in every handset.
One of the French terrorists has a rifle to make a very long range shot. However, it is equipped with a silencer, which anyone who is familiar with rifles knows a silencer can, and typically will dramatically alter the accuracy of a long range shot. A real sniper or sharpshooter would never risk this; especially such an important shot.
(at around 43 mins) While flying in a black-hawk helicopter with the doors open, FBI agents speak to one another casually as though the overwhelming noise of the wind and rotors is non-existent.
(at around 36 mins) When Callie has a visitor at the indoor firing range, the range master is heard announcing a cease-fire for the entire range and then Callie removes her ear protection. She then proceeds to fire several shots in an act of bravado without ear protection for her guest and her, and in gross violation of the range orders meant to protect other shooters.
(at around 1h 4 mins) When Cris is watching television to determine the time and place of the explosion, a news anchor describes a hurricane in the Atlantic as an "F-3" storm. The Fujita Scale is used to rate the intensity of tornadoes. Hurricanes are classified using the Saffir-Simpson scale. A hurricane of that strength would properly be called a Category 3 storm.
(at around 32 mins) As Chris and Liz arrive at the Indian village, Liz announces it is the "Havasupai Reservation". The movie makes no further effort to specifically define where or what the location is. Since the Havasupai Reservation consists of 189,000 acres (approximately 295 sq miles) and has several waterfalls throughout, the audience is led to believe that it is a nondescript, perhaps even fictitious location. Since the movie makes no specific identification of this location, other than the Havasupai Reservation, any claims made regarding errors in geography (the village of Supai, the trail head to Havasupai and/or Havasu Falls among others) are unfounded.
Callie Ferris makes a point of Cris Johnson's "abilities" when he knew the name of a motel, before the man told him. However, anyone could have known this by seeing the motel sign on the road. It was only 2 miles back.
Even though there's a downpour of rain all night, the next morning the ground and all other surfaces are dry as a bone.
Mistrustful of the stranger she is helping, Liz agrees that Cris will sleep outside in the car, but the next morning her justifiable caution has inexplicably vanished as she chooses to greet him wrapped only in a skimpy towel (at 00:38:52).
Liz buys Cris a can of shaving cream. He says "Thanks, I really need this." She confirms it as well. However, he is completely clean shaven when she hands the can to him.
(at around 5 mins) The Golden Nugget on Freemont Street is standing in for the fictional Mystique Casino in the film. When Cris enters the casino, the large 'G' and 'N' are visible on the doors and a plaque with the Golden Nugget logo can be seen on the wall.
(at around 1h 19 mins) During the outdoor firefight at the dock, two cuts before the cut that shows the bad guys reaching the top of the ladder to the ship, three FBI agents in the foreground are seen shooting one bad guy amid some cargo containers. In the background on the right side of the frame, a strangely nonchalant terrorist is standing against a dark container, gun casually pointing straight up, watching the carnage.
Around 59 minutes, Loz starts the avalanche with her jeep. You can clearly see a long chain attached to the jeep, as it's rolling down the slope. It is visible several times as it's going down.
(at around 1h 8 mins) After Cris escapes custody from the FBI in downtown Los Angeles, the helicopter surveillance, while reporting his escape route, states that he's headed south on Fifth, then east on Broadway. In downtown Los Angeles, Fifth Street runs east-west, while Broadway runs north-south.
(at around 18 mins) When Agent Ferris explains Frank Cadillac's predicament (stolen vehicle, attempted armed robbery) she tells him he could end up in Folsom State Prison. Folsom is a California prison, the crimes were committed in Nevada.
(at around 32 mins) The characters visit the Indian village of Supai, Arizona, and two of the associated waterfalls, Havasu and Mooney. In the film it appears that they park their car and walk to these locations in regular street clothes and very quickly. In actuality the village of Supai is 8 miles (through the desert) from the parking lot. Havasu falls is another 2 miles beyond that and Mooney falls is 2 more miles plus a nearly straight vertical climb of 150-200 feet to the bottom. Accomplishing this trip, at the very least, would require carrying a water supply and wearing appropriate boots and clothing.
(at around 5 mins) Early in the film Johnson walks into a casino off of Fremont street in the heart of Las Vegas. (at around 9 mins) Upon exiting the casino later, however, he finds himself just off the Las Vegas Strip across from Paris Hotel and Casino approximately 2 ½ miles away from Fremont street.
(at around 20 mins) Early scene in which Mr. Roybal head of security is met by the two "Nevada Gaming commission officers" this takes place on the roof of a parking structure in which the camera view shows the Stratosphere tower over the left shoulder of the agent and another casino with lights on the roof over his right. There is no such parking structure and as such the Stratosphere tower and casino are completely by themselves on the strip with a good long walk to the Sands being the closest casino and even its 3 or so blocks away.
The FBI is able to quickly shutdown all cell signals once they determine where Liz will be left with the explosive vest so the sniper can not call in the kill. They then determine that the vest is wired to receive a cell signal to detonate. Can't they simply disable the cell signal again to not allow her vest to receive the detonation signal?
No explanation how the snipers were able to set up camp during a thunderstorm and start a campfire within rifle range of the motel without the FBI noticing.
About 31 minutes, "Mr. Smith" (Enzo Cilente) and "Mr. Jones" watch as an atomic device is being unloaded from a shipping container at a large port in Los Angeles. They are surrounded by numerous men armed with assault style automatic rifles. This is a public port. If these people were truly terrorists intent on detonating an atomic weapon, there is no way they would do this so conspicuously. At the very least, having so many people around them with such weaponry would attract attention; the last thing they would ever want.
They were able to determine the killer in the motel room across the street was part of the terrorist group because they found a bottle of pills for radiation poisoning. This was after the FBI agent stated that the room had been professionally wiped down of fingerprints and other evidence. The terrorists immaculately wiped down the room but left a dead body and a prescription pill case?
(at around 39 mins) Cris (Nicolas Cage) tells a joke about a "Zen master" ordering a hot dog. Cage says, "he said he'd have 'one with everything.'" The punch line should be "make me one with everything." Cage's wording misses the point, and the expression on Liz (Jessica Biel)'s face suggests she misses the point too.
Cris claims he hasn't been using his power to set up the relationship, though that is how he made first contact at the diner.
