Tarzan II I would say is maybe the best looking of the direct-to- video sequels. I was pretty overwhelmed by the beautiful landscapes and how grand they were made.
To shortly sum up my impression of the idea of making a so-called midquel: I think it was a great idea, because we did not see that much of how Tarzan coped with his identity issues in the original. Is it handled perfectly, you ask? No, not exactly, but when the movie has that theme in its undivided focus it works out well without any need for words. George Carlin's role as Zugor did make a good impression on me, because I was a little skeptical to begin with. He and Tarzan share some heartfelt moments together, even if the pay-off of Tarzan's search for his identity comes off as underwhelming.
The harshest criticism I have towards Tarzan II is that these three apes, Mama Gunda, Kago and Uto were really unnecessary as bad-guys. They could have made the same impact on Tarzan's life with a smaller role. But it could have been awesome to see more of how Sabor thretened the gorillas, because he seemed like a real threat in the original.
Tarzan II is an okay watch, and kids can enjoy the adventure and the comedy while adults may find it pleasant to see the heartfelt moments. Again, this is a Disney sequel so therefore the original is by far a better movie, but with that said, this is not insulting to its predecessor.

(2005) Tarzan II
ANIMATION/ CHILDREN/ ADVENTURE
After the moderate success of Disney's animated "Tarzan" cartoon movie released in 1999, the studio decided to produce a sequel which went straight-to-rental and it's a very good move on their part because that's where it needs to go, since it's just a simplistic recycled mess out of many other Disney classics that came before it especially the supposedly comedy scenes! Retelling the "Tarzan" legend created by Edgar Rice Burroughs -Disney style centering way too long about 'how come young Tarzan can't do some of the same things as his other apes friends' besides not looking like one almost made me like not wanting to care at this point, for as the movie progresses with the help of an older ape, he was able to identify the features he already has such as his using hands and his feet but it's so boring. For children, they may suck up to this since they may not have seen many as much as you, but a warning to all parents and adults the only reason to see this (if theirs any reason at all all) is to hear some of our favorite actors/ actresses doing the voices which can also be distracting since a lot of the dialogue is repetitive and somewhat annoying. These voices include George Carlin as Hugo, Glenn Close as Kala, Brad Garret as Uto, Lance Henrickson as Kerchak and Ron Pearlman as Kugo. Besides the cartoon being straight forward, conventional and unfunny was Phil Collins annoying songs throughout- they were so boring that I used a remote control to whiz through them. It's sole message is okay, but even at a running time of 1 hour and 12 minutes still felt quite long, perhaps it should've been 35 or 45 minute and at the same time cut out the uninspiring singing, the cheap jokes and I might've like this one a little more.

Remember the 'Son of Man' sequence from the original Disney 'Tarzan' film? It showed Tarzan learning how to be an ape man, he grew up - it lasted a few minutes and it was fine. We used our imaginations to fill in the blanks.
Disney obviously felt that more of the blanks needed to be filled in, so we end up with 'Tarzan 2', a misleadingly titled film that is actually a midquel, fleshing out the 'Son of Man' sequence to over an hour.
It's fine, it's ok, it has its moments, but you can almost hear the cash cow being milked.

Unnecesary sequel from 2005 this time is about Tarzan who came with the idea of making a sequel out of this movie, i would prefer to watch Chicken Little better than this atrocity and i could even watch Tarzan from 1999 which the original version of Tarzan is way better than this.

I didn't see this film until fairly recently, and since I loved the original film and the fact I am a huge animation fan I thought why not check it out? And I liked it very much, it is not as good as the original, which I think is wonderful, but it is better than Tarzan and Jane, which was mediocre.
Now I don't hate all the sequels, in fact some of them I have liked, King of Thieves, Enchanted Christmas, Simba's Pride, Bambi 2 and Brother Bear 2, though none of them are as good as their originals, and then there are some like Cinderella 2, Little Mermaid 2 and Jungle Book 2 that almost completely lack the heart and charm of their predecessors.
This sequel(or midquel perhaps) as I have said is not as good as the first Tarzan, but it does have the original's heart and charm, that is one main reason why it is one of the better Disney sequels. I do agree that the story is lacking a bit and drags in spots and the film is too short. However, there is some nice humour, and some parts are even touching. Even better though is the animation, this is easily one of the better-looking sequels. The animation in the original undoubtedly was absolutely fantastic, but here the landscapes, colours and characters are just as gorgeously rendered. And I liked the soundtrack as well, not as catchy but it is still nice and upbeat and gives the film its heart and soul.
Tarzan himself is very likable, strong and charismatic even as a young boy, yet loyal to his family and friends, and I liked Terk as well, she was funny without being completely over-the-top. The voice acting is strong, Harrison Chad does a great job, as do Glenn Close, Estelle Harris and Lance Henrikson, while Brenda Grate was surprisingly good as Terk.
Overall, not as good as the first Tarzan, but it is for me one of the better sequels, as it is very well animated and has charm and heart. 7/10 Bethany Cox

I have been a huge fan of Disney for years, but their sequels have tended to be rather disappointing, with weak scripts and/or bad animation plaguing the productions.
After watching this, I must say, this is one of the best sequels to come from Disney. The animation quality is what most impressed me- it was cinema quality. The action sequences, effects, and the characters themselves were all rendered meticulously, with a lot of attention to light and color given as well.
The characters' acting (both in animation and voice) was very good, and Turk (who I found obnoxious in the first film 'Tarzan') was actually very endearing this time around. I was impressed with the children's voice acting, as they had to carry a good amount of the film, and they managed to do a good job with both the humorous scenes and the few more serious ones.
The adult voice acting was very very good, with some of the original cast such as Glenn Close and Lance Henriksen in the periphery, and the added great talents of George Carline, Estelle Harris, Brad Garret and Ron Pearlman.
It is not a story as grande or powerful as the big Disney classics, and doesn't hold quite as much 'awe' as 'Tarzan', but it was a nice tale for kids, with enough humor and production quality that the adults can enjoy it as well.

Seriously, sometimes it seems that it was made by different developers. The animation style changed, and while im not a fan of it, it still looks great, and thats the only good thing about the movie. The story and new characters are just bland like any other Disney sequel, nobody cant argue about that. Well, more than a sequel is like a "half prequel" like Bambi 2, but at least Bambi 2 explains some things that the original didnt explain, while Tarzan 2 dont add anything to the plot, but padded it and the new characters dont appear in Tarzan 1, so, whats the point?
Horrible movie like almost any other Disney sequel to get money at any cost that should never exist.

This straight-to-video Disney sequel, taking place when Tarzan is still a boy, is so perfectly executed, it feels as though it could've been additional material cut from the first movie.
Tarzan, finding that he can't keep up with the other gorilla youngsters, begins to question who and what he is, and the film is more or less about his self-discovery and how he begins the transformation from just being a human boy to becoming the 'Tarzan' we all know and love.
All of your favorite characters are back (except Jane and the professor of course), as well as the voice talents of Glenn Close as Kala and Lance Henrikson as Kerchak. The casting director did a wonderful job in finding a young voice talent to perfectly match the young Tarzan from the original. Furthermore, it appears that most of the original animators are back as well, for the animation is something to behold, and a few new songs as well as a reprise from the first film by Phil Collins make it that much more convincing.
This film has the passion and heart that is usually lacking in the great majority of Disney sequelsyou can really feel the care and respect for the material by all involved in the production. It's both touching and humorous, and not just for childrenadults will find this amusing as well. Now if Disney will just follow suit and continue to make sequels such as this one, maybe they can actually put more than one every ten years in the theater.
VERDICT: Disney succeeds in finally making a worthwhile sequel, much of the caliber of the original. Recommended to allif you liked the original Tarzan, you'll like this one. And to all you collectors out there, this one is definitely worth the $20I know I'll be adding it to *my* collection sometime in the near future.

Disney's "Tarzan II" is a fun family film to watch, and I must say that it is much, much better than "Tarzan and Jane." This sequel centers around Tarzan's childhood, and what he had to go through while seeking his real identity. All the lovely characters are back of course, with other new fun characters. The animation of this film was quite satisfying and the songs by Phil Collins were also lovely. I have to say, however, that this film is mostly for kids but it has some good laughs for adults though . Also, do not expect this sequel to be better than the original "Tarzan" but still, it is a good one compared to other sequels, and is worth watching.

So let's continue the review of the Disney sequels now it's Tarzan 2 released in 2005 direct-to-video Let's start something this is not really a real sequel since this film is set when Tarzan is the child it was no longer better to call it Tarzan 1/ 2 Then I tell you thatI didn't like this film and I don't know why TheLittleSongbird liked this film Who even gave it a rating of 7 But I swear this film I've seen it is the problem that it really lasts too little In fact it doesn't even exceed an hour L The only good thing about this movie is the animationbut for the rest it's just boredom Yes because this film is really very boring to follow it and also for that duration But I wonder another thing as always if some people from this film were there because I don't see a basis in the original film in that part when Tarzan grew up you don't know whyI and I tell you that this movie was a high waste of time because Hallo What a shame because it had really good potential to end rating 5.

Tarzan II is another example of an unneeded Disney sequel (or midquel in this case). It may be a slight improvement from Tarzan & Jane with some good animation and a nice score coming from Phil Collins that's traditional to its predecessor, but the execution ended up making this an easily forgettable adventure with a basic plot, weak comedy, characters that are downgraded into a bland cast, and a pointless trio of villains that often throw out filler than having legitimately evil moments. In terms of my recommendation, I'll say that if you really want to know more about Tarzan in his childhood, maybe this would be it. Outside of that, I honestly think it's best to just stick with the original film. I can tolerate this over Tarzan & Jane, but this one is not the kind of jungle I'll be returning anytime soon.

"Tarzan 2," directed by Brian Smith, is a direct-to-video prequel that explores Tarzan's childhood before he becomes the jungle hero we know. The story follows young Tarzan as he struggles to find his place in the jungle, feeling different from both the animals and his adoptive ape family.
The film features solid voice performances, with Harrison Chad voicing young Tarzan, bringing a sense of curiosity and vulnerability to the character. Glenn Close and Lance Henriksen return as Kala and Kerchak, adding continuity and depth to the narrative. The animation maintains the vibrant, lush quality of the original film, immersing viewers in the jungle's beauty.
While "Tarzan 2" lacks the epic scope and emotional weight of the first movie, it provides an engaging and heartfelt look at Tarzan's formative years. The storyline is simple yet charming, emphasizing themes of self-discovery and belonging. It's a suitable watch for younger audiences and fans of the original film, offering a light, enjoyable adventure that expands on Tarzan's backstory.

A massive improvement on 2002's 'Tarzan & Jane' - this is a proper follow-up. Amazing what can happen when you try, eh Disney?
'Tarzan II' still doesn't compare to the original film from 1999, but this third (not second, as the title would suggest) film from the series is actually good. There's thankfully one consistent story, albeit a prequel one, and there are even returns for Glenn Close (Kala) and Lance Henriksen (Kerchak) onscreen and Phil Collins behind it with the music.
The premise is fairly simple, yet it still makes for enjoyable enough viewing. It has heart and meaning, as well as decent humour. It could be greater but I can still very much appreciate what it brings to the table.
A fitting revisit to the world of 'Tarzan', unlike its predecessor.

This was much better than I had originally anticipated. That's just the cold hard truth. This is the story of Tarzan as a young boy, with all of his young friends, having fun. This is a great movie for children, mostly those between the ages of about 5 and 12, who will enjoy it the most. And parents will like the story line too, it is a good thing to talk to your children about. What to do in the situation, and what NOT to do. It seems as though Disney is trying to put these movies out as fast as they can now, but I don't think this one was for the money. They did take time on this video to make sure it was WORTH buying, and believe me, it is. And if you want this title, you can find good, inexpensive ones at either HTTP://www.amazon.com ,or HTTP://www.ebay.com. Thats my story, and I'm sticking to it!! This was a good movie, and I gave it an 8 of 10.

A significant improvement over 2002's 'Tarzan & Jane' - this is a proper sequel. Impressive what can be achieved with effort, right Disney?
'Tarzan II' may not reach the heights of the original 1999 film, but this third installment (despite the misleading title) in the series is actually quite good. There is a consistent storyline, albeit a prequel, and the return of Glenn Close (Kala) and Lance Henriksen (Kerchak) onscreen, with Phil Collins providing the music.

A worthy return to the 'Tarzan' universe, unlike its predecessor.

I didn't know what to expect considering Disney's negative reputation with their direct-to-video sequels. So when I watched it I have to say it was pretty good. It was well animated, acted and paced. The story's about a young Tarzan (Harrison Chad) trying to find his place in the jungle. After trying to keep up with his pack during a storm he gets separated and decides to run away feeling he doesn't belong with him. This leads him to a grumpy gorilla named Zugor (George Carlin) who pretends to be a monster in order to scare off the other animals near his home including a grumpy gorilla named Mama Gunda (Estelle Harris) and her two sons the irritable, aggressive Kago (Ron Perlman) and the happy yet dimwitted Uto (Brad Garrett) who think they are trapped by the "monster".
In exchange for keeping his secret Zugor reluctantly agrees to help him find out who he is. The movie's not as good as the first one but it's still good in its own right. The animation's a slight downgrade as the characters aren't as fluid as the original but it's still pretty good by direct-to-video standards. The characters are well-defined and enjoyable to watch. What Tarzan goes through is relatable as there's been a point in our life where we were trying to find out our place in this world. Mama Gunda and her sons antics are fun to watch as well. They really have good chemistry which leads to some good laughs. The songs aren't as memorable as the first but they're still written and performed by Phil Collins so they're ok. The pacing's pretty good. While there're moments of bouncing around there're also quiet thoughtful moments and I think they're done pretty well.
Tarzen 2's definitely a diamond in the rough. It has something for both kids and adults. It may not be memorable but it's still enjoyable nonetheless. If you have kids I'd say check it out.
