A sixth instalment of the Ice Age franchise – we’ll call it Ice Age 6 – is in development, with all the original cast returning! Sing hosannas.
Scrat the squirrel scrambling to cling on to his cherished acorn in the Ice Age films is one of the funniest running cinematic gags of the early 2000s. The sheer number of imaginative ways the writers and animators came up with to deny Scrat his prize was extremely impressive, with the set pieces gradually getting bigger in scale. They became a highlight of each film.
According to Deadline, a sixth Ice Age film is in development at Disney and 20th Century Animation.
The film seems to be moving forward at quite a pace too, with many of the original cast – Romano, Leguizamo, Latifah, Leary and Pegg – already signed on. (Read on to discover what all their first names are.)
There’s currently no writer or director attached.

Disney has announced that Ice Age 6 is officially in development, marking their second movie set within the hit animated franchise. Originally produced by Blue Sky Studios for 20th Century Fox, the franchise would later fall under Disneys ownership following 2019s Fox-Disney merger. Following that merger, Blue Sky Studios was officially shut down by Disney in 2021, but not before producing a series of animated shorts, dubbed Ice Age: Scrat Tales, that debuted on Disney+ in 2022. Meanwhile, Disney+ would also release its own exclusive spinoff movie, The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, without Blue Skys involvement.

One scene in the original Ice Age movie takes Sid through a strange ice cave, where it appears to predict the defining images of the next four movies in the series. The Ice Age franchise is a popular animated series, with all five movies in the main Ice Age timeline and its spinoff raising $3.2 billion at the box office. The original installment, arguably the best Ice Age movie, is a relatively simple story about a mismatched group of lovable prehistoric creatures trying to return a human baby to his family before the sequels expand the world.
The success of Ice Age centered on its unlikely family, with Sid the Sloth being described as "the sticky stuff that holds them together." A new Ice Age movie now appears to have been confirmed, but it is not known yet how big Sid's role will be. It is even possible that the new...

With Ice Age 6 seemingly in the works, its worth considering which iconic characters from the franchise the latest installment needs to bring back. Sid voice actor John Leguizamo has confirmed Ice Age 6 in a recent interview, which will be the newest entry in the main series of films, the most recent being Ice Age: Collision Course in 2016. Although the gang does come back in 2022s The Ice Age Adventures Of Buck Wild, this is, in fact, a spin-off title.
Because of Buck Wild, the upcoming movie is technically Ice Age 7. Over the years, the Ice Age movies have kept children and adults alike entertained with all manner of adventures and escapades, led by Manny the Mammoth, Sid the Sloth, and Diego the Sabertooth Cat. There is hope that Ice Age 6 will undo Disneys mistake and bring back the original voice actors to reprise their roles, too. While...

It’s been an eventful summer for Disney, and not under ideal circumstances. After his wife’s death because of food allergies at a Disney park, a man struggled to pursue legal action against the company due to his Disney+ subscription. Then, “X-Men: 97” showrunner Beau DeMayo shared a series of posts elaborating on his termination, and his attorneys told IndieWire that he’s preparing to sue.
The headlines have people considering whether to keep subscribing this month — but if you’re a parent, there’s no real replacement. The kids can tune in to “Lego Pixar: Bricktoons,” “Chibi Tiny Tales,” “Disney Jr.’s Ariel,” and more, as well as new episodes of the K-pop series “Are You Sure?” There’s also a big Marvel premiere, but more on that below. Ice Age: Collision Course is No. 7 on Netflix's weekly global viewership chart. The movie is the worst-reviewed installment in the entire franchise. The success of Ice Age on streaming could be good news for the future of the series.
Ice Age: Collision Course has become a global Netflix hit despite being the worst-reviewed movie in the animated franchise. Between box office, merchandising, and other considerations, the Ice Age franchise has earned more than $6 billion. However, only the first movie has been rated Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, earning a 77% score while the follow-ups The Meltdown (56%), Dawn of the Dinosaurs (46%), Continental Drift (37%), Collision Course (18%), and Buck Wild (19%) have resulted in a trend of progressively dismal critic scores.
Netflix has now unveiled their official chart of the Top 10 most viewed English-language movies for the week of May 20 through May 26. Alongside Dawn of the Dinosaurs at No. 3, Ice Age: Collision Course has landed at No.

Gu Xiaogang knows firsthand the impact that international film festivals can have.
Gu turned to the Beijing International Film Festival back in 2018 in an effort to get his breakthrough feature, Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains, made. He took his film to Bjiff’s project market and he walked away with the funds he needed after impressing investors with his story — an intimate look at a family’s life as it evolves across one year — along with his languid style.
The international film world has since felt much the same. Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains went on to become the first Chinese-language film to close Critics’ Week at Cannes in 2019, was selected among the top 10 films of the year by the leading French film magazine Cahier du Cinema in 2020 and led directly to Gu being named a co-winner of the Akira Kurosawa Award at last year’s 36th Tokyo International Film Festival,...

Harold and the Purple Crayon is a beloved children’s book written and illustrated by Crockett Johnson about a curious four-year-old boy with a magic purple crayon that has the power to make anything he draws become real. Hollywood has been attempting to bring the story to the big screen for decades, and it seems that time has finally arrived. Sony Pictures has dropped a pair of posters for the live-action adaptation of Harold and the Purple Crayon, which stars Zachary Levi.
As you might be aware, Zachary Levi is not a four-year-old boy, so the movie is obviously switching up the story somewhat. Sony hasn’t released an official plot synopsis yet, but here’s my prediction: A now grown-up Harold has mostly forgotten about his magical purple crayon, believing it was a product of his young imagination. When Chris Wedge's animated film "Ice Age" first came out in 2002, it was considered novel and striking for many reasons. It was set in prehistoric times yet eschewed dinosaurs in favor of megafauna living in the Pleistocene Epoch. The three main characters were a sloth named Sid (John Leguizamo), a smilodon named Diego (Denis Leary), and a mammoth named Manfred aka Manny (Ray Romano), and they were engaged in a great migration to flee the oncoming Ice Age. The plot of their first movie apes John Ford's 1946 Western "3 Godfathers," as the three animals discover a human infant that they must keep safe and deliver back to the then-evolutionarily-novel homo sapiens living nearby.
The design of "Ice Age" was striking, aiming for broad, stylized characters that were markedly different from the friendly, big-eyed protagonists of Disney pictures. It certainly helped that the "Ice Age" movies featured a character named Scrat,...

Josh Peck reveals that he almost played the role of Edward Cullen in Twilight, but lost out to Robert Pattinson. Peck's audition for the role came down to him and three other guys, according to his agent, which he found impossible considering he wasn't even in great shape. Peck jokes about the casting decision, saying that it was like choosing between Chris Hemsworth or Stanley Tucci for the role.
Josh Peck reveals that he was considered to play the romantic vampire Edward Cullen in the Stephenie Meyer adaptation Twilight, a role which eventually went to Robert Pattinson. Peck first rose to fame on Nickelodeon after appearing on the sketch show The Amanda Show and co-starring with Drake Bell on the sitcom Drake and Josh. By the time Twilight premiered in 2008, Peck had also held roles in ER, Mean Creek, and Ice Age: The Meltdown.

Watching the Ice Age movies in order is easy, as the franchise has a linear timeline with a simple storyline centered around Manny, Sid, Diego, and the popular character, Scrat. Despite being successful overall, the Ice Age movies have faced mixed reviews for its recent entries, with 2016's Collision Course being a disappointment compared to previous films. This could indicate a decline in audience interest, and future films will need to work hard to feel fresh. The Ice Age series includes short films that add humor and expand on the films' stories, with most of them featuring the fan-favorite character, Scrat. These shorts have been released as special features on DVDs and before screenings of other films.

Invisible City (Cidade Invisível) is a series directed by Júlia Pacheco Jordão and Luis Carone. It stars Marco Pigossi, Alessandra Negrini and Jéssica Córes.
The Invisible City is a very original fantasy and thriller series that knows how to swim wonderfully between the waters of the spiritual and criminal worlds, between the supernatural and the detective genre, and it also has an original aesthetic proposal.
About the Series
A murder thriller that gets lost in local legends, in the world of spirits and magic, and then presents us with a message of environmental conservation.

From the very start, “Ice Age” transported audiences to a world of enchantment and hilarity. It has since become one of the most beloved and top-grossing animated franchises in cinematic history.
It’s easy to see why due to its thrilling adventures, lighthearted humor, meaningful messages, and iconic characters like Sid (John Leguizamo), Manny (Ray Romano), Ellie (Queen Latifah), Diego (Denis Leary), Shira (Jennifer Lopez) and Scrat(Chris Wedge).
The 2002 blockbuster hit “Ice Age” marked the pioneering, feature-length debut of Blue Sky Studios. This success spawned a series of Ice Age films and short animations that extended beyond the original story while introducing lovable new characters to viewers worldwide.
Unfortunately, Blue Sky Studios was forced to close its doors in 2021 after Disney acquired their former distribution partner 20th Century Fox. The good news is that Disney remains committed to continuing the beloved “Ice Age” saga, so fans can expect more...

One week ago, NBA legend and Los Angeles Lakers icon Jerry West employed his legal representation to send a letter to HBO, Warner Bros. Discovery and Adam McKay demanding a legal retraction for his portrayal on HBO’s “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.” The correspondence included testimony by former members of the Lakers organization, including retired ballplayer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, to reinforce its argument of the show creating “a deliberately false characterization.” Weeks before, Earvin “Magic” Johnson himself voiced his criticism of the series to Variety, saying “You can’t do a story about the Lakers without the Lakers… the real Lakers.”

The “Ice Age” series began in 2002 with Ice Age, a mildly entertaining if not completely forgettable film which told the story of three unlikely friends trying to survive an extinction event with one another. Highly-celebrated animator Carlos Saldanha, a filmmaker at Bottlecap productions, and like-mind Fraser MacLean, a fellow animator who’s also an educator at Sae Mexico, met virtually on Wednesday morning to discuss Saldanha’s robust career for Ventana Sur’s Training Sessions panel
The conference offered an intimate peek into the steady rise of Saldanha’s animation career, touched on his experience in the field, and included commentary on Latin America’s global appeal and steps necessary to solidify it.
In an industry slowly leaning in to support creative talent and emphasizing the importance of giving them the resources they need to thrive, it was wholly interesting to hear from Saldanha, who seems the ultimate example of hubris and determination. Saldanha, who directed “Ice Age 2,” “Ferdinand” and “Rio” where he crafted a tender homage to his home country, is no stranger to the ever-transitory condition of the animation market.

Carlos Saldanha, director of “Ice Age,” “Ice Age: The Meltdown” and “Rio,” is set to direct his first live-action feature, “100 Days,” for ambitious new Brazilian shingle Ventre Studio and Buena Vista Intl.-Disney.
Created as a theatrical feature, “100 Days,” an adventure drama for family audiences, is inspired by the extraordinary but true story of Brazilian Amyr Klink, who in 1984 at the age of 29, became the first person to cross the South Atlantic in a rowing boat, after many had died in the attempt.
Ventre Studio’s Paula Cosenza will unveil the project at the Cannes Film Market, courting international production partners.
Based on Klink’s bestseller “One Hundred Days Between Sea and Sky,” “100 Days” details his methodical preparations, including his specially designed boat and food stores.
As Klink battles waves, an ever slower boat and his fear of circling sharks in the Atlantic, “100 Days” will shuttle...

July is the month that North America goes back to the movies in earnest. There have already been some theatrical release of note this summer, but as everyone knows the blockbuster movie season doesn’t get started until a Marvel movie premieres. Thankfully, with its list of new releases for July 2021, Disney+ is offering up some options for those who prefer to stay home.
In addition to arriving in theaters on July 9, Black Widow will premiere on Disney+ as well. Disney+ subscribers can purchase the first Marvel movie released since 2019 for $29.99. Judging by the early buzz, that “Premier Access” price may be worth it. Disney+ is keeping the original summer movie parade going in July with The Rock’s latest action film, Jungle Cruise, premiering on July 30.
