Barry Jenkins’ Mufasa: The Lion King is still achieving new milestones at the box office despite being in cinemas for over one and a half months. The movie makes its digital debut today. Scrat the squirrel scrambling to cling on to his cherished acorn in the Ice Age films is one of the funniest running cinematic gags of the early 2000s. The sheer number of imaginative ways the writers and animators came up with to deny Scrat his prize was extremely impressive, with the set pieces gradually getting bigger in scale. They became a highlight of each film.

According to Deadline, a sixth Ice Age film is in development at Disney and 20th Century Animation.

The film seems to be moving forward at quite a pace too, with many of the original cast – Romano, Leguizamo, Latifah, Leary and Pegg – already signed on. (Read on to discover what all their first names are.)

Disney has announced that Ice Age 6 is officially in development, marking their second movie set within the hit animated franchise. Kasey Kitchen, a rep for Jansen’s sister Hayden, confirmed his death to The Hollywood Reporter. The cause of death is unknown and no other details were provided.

Born Sept. 25, 1994, in Palisades, New York, the actor started to make his way into Hollywood in the early 2000s with appearances on popular shows such as Even Stevens, Hope & Faith, Blue’s Clues and Third Watch.

In 2005, he and his sister teamed up for the Disney Channel movie Tiger Cruise, where he plays Joey. The film follows a naval carrier with families on board to join their seafaring relatives on a “tiger cruise.” But the ship is ordered into combat mode after word spreads about the World Trade Center attacks.

He was 28.

TMZ first reported the news, revealing that Jansen passed away over the weekend in New York.

Law enforcement sources told the aforementioned outlet they got a call to a residence on Sunday evening.

The outlet said that they were told there's no foul play suspected in Jansen's death.

Jansen, the younger brother of actress Hayden Panettiere, followed in his sister's footsteps and carved out a career on-screen.

In addition to appearances on The Walking Dead and Even Stevens, his credits also include The X's, Tiger Cruise, Racing Stripes, The Martial Arts Kid, Perfect Game, and How High 2.

He also appeared in the 2022 holiday movie Love and Love Not.

The actor was nominated for a Young Artist Award for his work on Nickelodeon's The Last Day of Summer.

Jansen Panettiere, the child actor who starred in 2007’s Nickelodeon original movie “The Last Day of Summer” and voiced Truman X in Nickelodeon’s animated series “The X’s,” has died at age 28. The younger brother of “Nashville” star Hayden Panettiere died over the weekend in New York, TheWrap has confirmed.

A representative for the New York City Police Department told TheWrap that the death did not occur in New York City itself. According to TMZ, no cause of death has been announced and no foul play is suspected.

No statements had been issued by his family as of Monday evening. Representatives for Panettiere did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

Carlos Saldanha, director of “Ice Age,” “Ice Age: The Meltdown” and “Rio,” is set to direct his first live-action feature, “100 Days,” for ambitious new Brazilian shingle Ventre Studio and Buena Vista Intl.-Disney.

There have already been some theatrical release of note this summer, but as everyone knows the blockbuster movie season doesn’t get started until a Marvel movie premieres. Thankfully, with its list of new releases for July 2021, Disney+ is offering up some options for those who prefer to stay home.

In addition to arriving in theaters on July 9, Black Widow will premiere on Disney+ as well. Disney+ subscribers can purchase the first Marvel movie released since 2019 for $29.99. Exclusive: Oscar-nominated animator and director Michael Thurmeier has inked with Range Media Partners.

Thurmeier began his career as an animator at Blue Sky Studios, working on special animation for the film Fight Club and the multi-award winning HBO series The Sopranos.

His work led to being named lead animator on Big Sky’s original animated feature Ice Age in 2002 which earned him an Annie Award for best character animation.

The pic spurred a global franchise across five movies earning over $3.2 billion with multiple short films, and two TV specials.

Thurmeier went on to serve as supervising animator on 2006’s Ice Age: The Meltdown, co-director on the 2009 global smash Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and director on the blockbusters 2012’s Ice Age: Continental Drift and 2016’s Ice Age: Collision Course.

Thurmeier’s short film No Time for Nuts in 2006 was nominated for a 2007 Academy Award, and won the Annie for best animated short.

Exclusive: Oscar-nominated Brazilian filmmaker Carlos Saldanha has signed with Range Media Partners. Saldanha is one of the principle creative forces behind the Ice Age and Rio franchises during his time at Blue Sky Studios, where his films grossed over $2 billion at box offices worldwide. He is a two-time Academy Award nominee, first for the animated short Gone Nutty and more recently, the animated feature Ferdinand.

Saldanha was one of the first animators to join the Blue Sky Studios team of artists. After three years, he was the Supervising Animator for the talking and dancing roaches in the feature film Joe’s Apartment, and served as director of animation for the computer-generated characters in Fight Club. Given the current state of the world, this All Hallow’s Eve will see more folks staying in than ever before, so we’ll need as much choice when it comes to finding a perfect movie or TV show to dive into as possible. Helstrom debuts on Oct. 16 and follows Marvel Comics character Daimon Helstrom as he struggles against all manner of demonic forces. Another spooky treat arriving this month is Monsterland on Oct. 2. This anthology will feature scary stories from around the country.
