(Penny's Arrival): Penny arrives in Frankfurt and meets the Martin family, who consist of Elke, a widowed mother of three children, Klaus, Tinke, and Christian. Penny tries to adjust to her new life but faces challenges along the way.
(The Silly Thing in the Department Store): Penny goes shopping with Tinke and Christian but loses them in the crowded store. She also gets into trouble with a security guard who thinks she is a shoplifter.
(Different Points of View): Penny and Klaus have a disagreement over their political views--Penny the British Labour Party; Klaus the German Social Democratic Party. They try to convince each other of their opinions but ends up arguing.
(The Five in the Dictation): Penny helps Christian with his homework, but accidentally gives him the wrong answers for a dictation test. Christian gets a bad grade and blames Penny for it. Penny feels guilty and tries to make it up to him.
(Nicole from France): Penny befriends Nicole, a French au pair who works for another family. She soon realizes that Nicole is being exploited and mistreated by them. Penny decides to help Nicole stand up for herself.
(In the Dormitory): Penny moves into a dormitory for au pairs. She hopes to have more freedom and independence, but soon misses her old family. She also has to deal with the strict rules in the dorm and noisy neighbors.
(Elke Has Problems): Elke faces financial difficulties and has to look for a new job. She also starts dating Helmut, a mechanic who works at Klaus's garage. Penny tries to support Elke but also feels jealous of Helmut.
(Mister Grandpa Jansen): Penny befriends an old man who lives in the same apartment building as her family. He tells her stories about his life and gives her advice.
(The Breakdown): Penny and her family go on a camping trip, but their car breaks down on the way. They have to spend the night in a nearby village, where they meet some interesting people.
(Dangerous Company): Penny falls in love with a boy who turns out to be a drug dealer. She gets involved in his illegal activities and puts herself in danger.
(The Big Bang): Penny and her friends plan to celebrate New Year's Eve with fireworks, but they accidentally cause a fire in their apartment. They have to deal with the consequences and learn a lesson.
(The Farewell): Penny decides to leave Germany and go back to England for good. She says goodbye to the Martin family and thanks them for everything they have done for her. They are sad to see her go, but also happy for her future.
