Pookutty shared the award with Ian Tapp and Richard Pryke. The then 37-year-old Pookutty was an unknown name in the country, but it was not to remain so after the Oscar.
But the highlight was when the then Left government led by V.S. Achuthanandan decided to give him a hero’s welcome and the person who was asked to head the welcoming committee was the then Culture Minister M.A. Baby, at present a Cpi-m politburo member.
And on that day in 2009, his tiny village in Kollam district – Anchal – woke up to welcome their dearest son.
Soon Pookutty became the most popular personality in Kerala and stories of his childhood and how he studied under a kerosene lamp and his daily walk to the school about 10 kms all became news.
Also written was how a bus checker’s son, the youngest of eight children, the hardworking Pookutty was able to rise to the highest level.

Films about encounters often commence with the investigation and a look into the lives of all those involved as they slowly build-up to the shootout. “Batla House” too seemed to go along this path before changing direction within seconds. The film is a fictionalized recreation based on real-life events. It focuses on the life of one policeman as he deals with the aftermath of an encounter.
Written by Ritesh Shah, “Batla House” strives to prove that popular public opinions labeling it as a fake encounter are false. The term public opinion and people’s court driving media and politicians are explored in this film. There is a scene in the court about how the chief justice says that particular comments will be struck from the record. But we begin to think. Does it matter? The comments have been heard and are out there and form part of the public opinion.

Independence Day means a lot of things to a lot of people. For the new film Batla House, it means standing up for yourself, knowing that even when a system and people may be against you, the truth will always ring out. A controversial story based on an Encounter team Operation of the same name back in 2008, the film is led by Independence Day specialist John Abraham and given a female lead by Mrunal Thakur (Super 30). Musically, Satyameva Jayate this time last year provided a window into what to expect, with one superhit remake and a love song that lingered in the charts well down the months. Rochak Kohli and Taniskh Bagchi are back for this one, so listeners can look forward to more of the same in this short, punchy album.

Ever since this film was announced, the hype surrounding Jazbaa has been almost surreal. The film sees director Sanjay Gupta (Shootout at Lokhandwala, Kaante, Musafir) working with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the first time with a stellar cast of national award winning actors Irrfan Khan and Shabana Azmi. Jazbaa is an action thriller with a hard hitting storyline. Its soundtrack is however, is very soothing to the ears with songs that are not over the top at all. Jazbaa is not the kind of film that would rely on music to influence its plot/storyline. It is a thriller and often with these kind of films we hear fast paced/dramatic songs but in the case of Jazbaa, the music is totally the opposite.

Film lyricist Anand Bakshi is regarded as the most successful Indian film lyricist having written 4000 songs in a career ranging 45 years. A look at his work reveals his mastery over his art. Remember Chingari Koi Bhadke....(Amar Prem), Hum Tum Ek Kamre Mein Bandh Ho...(Bobby), Teri Pehli Nazar Ko Salaam... (Ek Duje Ke Liye), Tujhe Dekha To...(Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge) etc.
Anand Bakshi was a master of penning lyrics, within minutes, he could write to the tunes of music directors and in the process many a times he would cram mindless words like Dum Maro Dum...., Achcha To Hum Chalte Hain....Mere Jeevan Sathi Pyar Kiye Ja... etc incidentally the songs would prove hit.
One such song that he set to the tune of Laxmikant-Pyarelal was for the movie Amir Garib (1974) staring Dev Anand and Hema Malani. The song was Baith Ja Baith Gayi, Khadi Ho Ja Khadi...

The anticipation has always been there, but the promotions have been lying low until the teaser trailer and “Dagabaaz Re” were released last week. Our lovable rogue Chulbul Pandey is back, fighting off more villains and romancing his wife Rajo (Sonakshi Sinha). The promos have increasingly been impressive, with Sajid and Wajid back as music directors for this huge film. Sanjay Gupta is assured that there won't be any roadblocks in the journey that he has taken towards remaking the Spanish film Ladron Que Roba A Ladron. Though Maroos from Shemaroo too have their eyes set on this action thriller which is on the lines of Oceans series and have made their intentions clear about remaking this film with director duo of Abbas-Mustan, Gupta is amused at the very thought of it. Reason being that his company White Feathers has officially procured rights to the film while Shemaroo (apparently) doesn't have any legal right around remaking the film. "I guess this is very preposterous on the part of Shemaroo to be making a statement that they will make this film instead of me doing it", smiles Gupta, "I am not bothered with what they have to say because I have been negotiating with the makers of this Spanish film for over 6-7 months now.

Sameera Reddy became an epitome of oomph when she pulled all stops in Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Musafir’. Ever since then she has featured in variety of roles and worked across different genres. As she gears up for the release of yet another comedy of hers, ‘De Dana Dan’, Sameera blasts the entire myth around Size Zero and skinny bodies.
Today, when every second new entrant is aspiring to be a Size Zero, is she too aspiring for a different body shape? Or is she content with the way she is currently exuding the oomph factor?
“You know, recently a lot of people.

Download Adz wallpapers Aa Dekhen Zara is hardly four days away and the least that the makers want at this point of time is any unnecessary controversy building up. Recently there was a media report about Neil Nitin Mukesh unhappy with the way Aa Dekhen Zara was shaping up on the editing table. "Puhleeze, I never stated anything like this whether on or off the records. Bunty was entrusted with the responsibility of editing Aa Dekhen Zara and he did an excellent job. There was no question of anyone else coming on board. Sameera Reddy’s been trying hard to find a footing in Bollywood. But neither romantic heroine roles( ‘Maine Dil Tujhko Diya’) or glam doll roles(like ‘Musafir’) worked for her.
She then turned towards meaningful cinema with talented Bengali director Buddhadeb Dasgupta’s ‘Kalpurush’. The film got critical acclaim but stardom still continues to elude Sameera. Even item songs and an occasional ‘Taxi Number 9211′ did nothing for her.
But the girl’s not giving up yet. Now she’s playing the role of a rustic Rajasthani woman in Nagesh.
