The weirdest comic book sub-franchise of them all is, somehow, about to get even weirder. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has stood at the top of the mountain for well over a decade at this point, while its main competitor in DC Studios has struggled to keep pace and is now enacting a full-scale reboot under James Gunn and Peter Safran. Meanwhile, Sony's standalone "Spider-Man" franchise took the "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" approach when it folded both Sam Raimi's movies and Marc Webb's duology into the MCU proper with "Spider-Man: No Way Home." And then there's "Venom," which has complicated the multiverse beyond all logic and reason and had a grand time doing so. However, even all that nonsense featuring tons of decapitations and silly accents pales in comparison to what the impending threequel just revealed.

“Crisis on Infinite Earths” finally returns to our screens in less than a week, with the final two parts of the ginormous Arrowverse crossover airing on The CW next Tuesday. To mark its arrival, the network released a new poster for the event a couple of days ago that gave us our first look at Oliver Queen in his latest guise. Once again, he’s had to become something else, someone else. No, not the Green Arrow, but supernatural superhero the Spectre.
The merging of the Emerald Archer and the avenging spirit has been a highly anticipated development of the climax of “Crisis,” but now that we’ve seen him in costume as the Spectre, not all fans are blown away by his look. Sure, it’s awesome that Ollie’s alive again, but couldn’t they have made his new suit a bit… better?

CBS came out on top in the Friday ratings race, with MacGyver, Hawaii Five-o and Blue Bloods all scoring big numbers, helping the network to an easy victory on the night.
Starting at 8 Pm, MacGyver got the night rolling, its episode up one-tenth of a point among 18-49, topping its previous two. Then Hawaii Five-o stepped in with an equally strong 0.8/4, 7.39 million showing, holding onto the previous gains.
The only minor disappointment came at 10 Pm, where Blue Bloods had an 0.8/4, 8.48, a slight drop from its previous 0.9.
At ABC, Child Support had a new episode at 8 Pm and a re-run at 9 Pm, causing a rise of 0.5 over the show’s previous airing. That helped 20/20 to soar upward at 10 Pm, a tenth of a point up from two weeks before.
NBC saw Blindspot up a tenth to 0.5/3 and 2.65, while Midnight Texas held steady. Round out the evening,...

While we each have our favorite entry in the Friday the 13th film franchise – and Kane Hodder actually has one of his own as well – I must admit that mine is Jason X. Sure, there may be the purists among you that scoff at the idea of sending Jason Voorhees into space, but I believe there’s a beauty in the absurdity of it all – and there’s also the fact that I believe it contained some of Jason’s best kills overall.
That said, I share the disappointment of those of you lamenting over how Friday the 13th: The Game can no longer create new content due to the legal mess currently plaguing the franchise as a whole. Hell, even Killer Puzzle, the mobile game, hasn’t been immune to this jazz.
Taking that into account, today’s discussion comes as being bittersweet. I say that because, while we...
