Isabella Rossellini has joined Ryan Murphy’s upcoming FX series “The Beauty” in a recurring guest star role, Variety has learned.
The “Blue Velvet” star and “Conclave” Oscar nominee joins previously announced series leads Evan Peters, Ashton Kutcher, Anthony Ramos, Jeremy Pope and Rebecca Hall.
FX and 20th Century Television declined to comment. A representative for Murphy could not be immediately reached for comment.
“The Beauty,” from co-creators Murphy and Matthew Hodgson, was given an 11-episode order from FX. The series, which is currently in production, is based on the Image Comics series of the same name by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. While character and plot details are being kept under wraps, a description of the comic series reads as follows:
“Modern society is obsessed with outward beauty. What if there was a way to guarantee you could become more and more beautiful every day? What if it was a sexually transmitted disease?...

Beyoncé Knowles has spent decades amazing fans with her voice. The recording artist has been heavily celebrated at music awards ceremonies, too. Still, one award had eluded her until now. Earlier this month, Beyoncé took home the coveted Album of the Year award at the Grammy Awards. It was her first win in the category. While the world can’t stop talking about the Grammy win, a lipreader revealed the sweet interaction Beyoncé had with her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, during the special moment.

2025 looks like a bleak year for the leading ladies, at least in Hindi cinema. Worldwide, too, the really brawny ladies are hardly poised to shine this year: Meryl Streep has no release this year, while her desi counterpart Shabana Azmi will be shining on the Ott platform in Farhan Akhtar’s Dabba Cartel. Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Katrina Kaif have zero releases this year. Put simply, there are no big Shero films coming up in 2025.
There are exceptions, though.
1. Alia Bhatt: She is arguably the one Bollywood queen who will lord over the marquee this year, first in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, where she plays the centre of Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal’s attention. Bhansali has modelled Alia’s looks on Vyjayanthimala. In Alpha, which comes at the end of the year, Alia acquires an action Shero’s avatar.

The Jet Li science fiction movie from 2001 where the famed martial artist played nine different characters accurately predicted a big franchise trend in the 2020s. Jet Li's best movies highlight his legendary abilities within the action genre, with many titles such as Hero and Fearless showcasing both his physical prowess and his strong acting skills. However, the action genre was not the only one to experience Jet Li's talents, especially in the early 2000s as he branched out into telling other kinds of stories.
Jet Li, during that time frame, tried to establish himself in the science fiction genre through his starring role in the 2001 film The One. While that film ended up being one of his less popular additions, it did allow Jet Li's wushu fighting style to be displayed in new ways and let the film experiment with certain concepts. Some of those concepts ended up becoming popular later,...

It’s hard to imagine many actors having as much bona fides in the world of boxing as Rosie Perez. The Oscar-nominated star of “Do the Right Thing,” “White Men Can’t Jump,” “Fearless,” and “Birds of Prey,” has been a boxing fan for decades and is so aligned with the sport that famed broadcaster Al Bernstein once dubbed her the “First Lady of Boxing.”
“I grew up like the boxers,” she once told the New York Times. “I grew up hard knocks. But I learned to fight my way through life. You get knocked down, you get back up again. I think that’s why boxing resonated with me so much even as a little girl.”
So it comes as little surprise that Perez jumped at the chance to sit down with actors Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal to discuss their new Hulu series “La Maquina.” The limited series...

The star-studded Indian spin-off of the Citadel franchise, Honey Bunny, is now streaming on Amazon Prime, and while the series has its fair share of drawbacks, it is definitely the most entertaining entry of the spy-universe so far. The regional offshoots of the original Citadel series were supposed to be independent entries that use the basic structure of the original narrative but explore characters and storylines of their own without depending on it. Set in Italy, the first spin-off of the franchise, Citadel: Diana, went down this route, where the connection with the original series was barely present aside from key continuity references. It’s a completely different story with Honey Bunny, where events are connected with the original series to such an extent that it can be termed a prequel to Citadel.

Taylor Swift is a historic artist at the Grammys with more Album of the Year victories than any other artist (four). She has prevailed for “Fearless,” “1989,” “Folklore,” and just this past year “Midnights.” While accepting one of her awards for “Midnights,” the prolific singer-songwriter announced her next album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which dropped in April and has become one of the biggest commercial hits of her career, spending 15 nonconsecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200 albums chart. But will she rack up more top Grammy wins so soon after her record-breaking “Midnights” triumph? She’s certainly going to try. Here are her nine submissions on the Grammy ballot:

Fearless created a realistic plane crash scene using a specially grown cornfield, a camera truck, and miniature shots. The 1993 film explored profound grief and trauma, earning praise for performances by Jeff Bridges and Rosie Perez. Director Peter Weir's impactful storytelling in Fearless continues to influence filmmakers today, possibly inspiring scenes in later films like Interstellar.
VFX supervisor William Mesa details how Fearless created its plane crash scene. Directed by Peter Weir, with a script written by Rafael Yglesias adapted from his novel of the same name, the 1993 film follows a man who survives a devastating plane crash, and the harrowing experience dramatically changes his personality. Jeff Bridges stars in the lead role alongside Isabella Rossellini, Rosie Perez, Tom Hulce, John Turturro, and Benicio del Toro.

She later joined the writers room, alongside her second husband John Pascal, for the soap opera The Young Marrieds in the mid-’60s. Slim Shady has defeated the Swifties.
Eminem’s The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) debuts atop The Billboard 200 today, giving the Detroit rapper his 11th No. 1 album. It ends the 12-week reign of Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department, leaving her a week short of tying a nearly 50-year-old record. Only Stevie Wonder’s Grammy-winning classic Songs in the Key of Life spent more weeks on top (13) after debuting at No. 1. It later added a 14th nonconsecutive week.

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting 11 theme park attendees reported dizziness, chest pain, or lost consciousness that required hospitalization over a three-month period, according to a Florida state document.
The 11 incidents occurred at Disney World and Universal in Florida, including four at their water parks, between April and June, the media outlet reported.
Florida theme parks must self-report to the state each quarter guest injuries that require at least 24 hours of hospitalization.
High-speed roller coasters, in-the-dark rides, whitewater rafts, and attractions with motion-simulators caused most of the recent injuries.
No injuries were reported by SeaWorld Orlando, Legoland Florida in Winter Garden, or Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.
The state does not monitor updates after the initial assessments. An Orlando Sentinel investigation last year said that descriptions of the injuries are often vague or inaccurate.
Disney reported one incident in April – a 60-year-old man who experienced chest pains after riding Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.

Fans of the Powerless Trilogy by Lauren Roberts can expect Fearless in April 2025. Fearless will serve as the conclusion to Paedyn and Kai's story, though Roberts could continue writing in this world. After a bombshell ending in Reckless, Fearless is set to take Kitt, Paedyn, Kai, and the Resistance to some intriguing places.
The Powerless Trilogy by Lauren Roberts has become one of the most popular series on BookTok, so it's no wonder readers are eager to get their hands on the next book, Fearless. The third Powerless book is still a while off, as the second installment just hit shelves in July 2024. This season of The Bachelorette wasn’t filming at Bachelor Mansion.
And based on the premiere episode, it’s probably a good thing Jenn Tran and her remaining men are already on the move.
The Hummingbird Nest Ranch, where Jenn and her 25 suitors filmed The Bachelorette premiere, might have a bit of a rodent problem.
While most viewers didn’t even notice the blink-and-you-miss-it moment, some eagle-eyed viewers caught what was happening.
Thanks to social media, everyone knows two rats were on set during one of Jenn’s one-on-one chats that night.
With the internet buzzing about the rat-spotting on The Bachelorette, producers are clearly aware and aren’t horrified as one might assume.
Jenn Tran and Sam N joined by… rats?
Jenn did a great job of moving from one man to the next, giving as many as possible a chance to make an impression but she may have been a bit too inviting.

Last year her debut album, “Good Riddance,” peaked down at number-52. Moving back up one spot to number-three was Morgan Wallen‘s remarkably...

Unless you live under a rock, you have definitely heard of a pop star called Taylor Swift. Even though she has millions of fans all over the world, she has a fair share of haters as well. Lady Gaga’s 2008 breakthrough “The Fame” was one of the most successful debut albums in recent history, not only a hot seller, but a critically praised record at that. Its impact could be measured in a million ways, but on its 15th anniversary the album’s Grammy success comes to mind.
SEEGrammys flashback: What happened to these artists After they won Album of the Year?
“The Fame” wasn’t an overnight sensation, it was a slow riser. Debuting at number-17 initially, the album was helped by word-of-mouth and its lead single “Just Dance” being a budding hit (number-27 that week). In December, when the Grammy nominations for 2009 came out, “Just Dance” was nominated in the category now called Best Dance/Electronic Recording, a major feat for Gaga, whose album wouldn’t even be eligible until the next Grammys cycle.

Exclusive: Global TV and film studio Sister is gearing up for a string of projects to hit the small and big screens and today might well see the launch of its most daring.
Netflix’s Eric about a desperate father battling his own demons on the streets of 1980s New York as he searches for his missing nine-year-old son features Benedict Cumberbatch and a custom-made seven foot puppet, which is visible only to Cumberbatch’s character, the flawed Vincent. Abi Morgan’s six-part series ties together themes of belonging, addiction, loss and police brutality in a familiar setting. It was described as Sesame Street meets Taxi Driver by one British reviewer, although Sister creative chief Jane Featherstone compared it in scope and theme to Steven Spielberg’s Et.
Speaking exclusively to Deadline, Featherstone said the show is testament to the Chernobyl and This is Going to Hurt studio’s commitment to taking a talent-first approach.

Sophie Turner is breaking her silence about the days following her split from Joe Jonas in September 2023.
The actress sat down with British Vogue to discuss her upcoming series, Joan, the six-part ITV drama that follows the true story of Britain’s notorious jewel thief Joan Hannington. During the conversation, the Game of Thrones star got candid about her split from the Jonas brother and how much she was affected by the reports alleging she was a bad mother who liked to party.
“I mean, those were the worst few days of my life,” Turner told the publication. “I remember I was on set, I was contracted to be on set for another two weeks, so I couldn’t leave. My kids were in the States, and I couldn’t get to them because I had to finish Joan. And all these articles started coming out.”

Taylor Swift removed six songs from the Eras Tour setlist to make room for the new The Tortured Poets Department set, five of which were featured in the extended cut of her concert movie, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version), on Disney+. The only song Swift cut from the setlist that was never featured in The Eras Tour movie is "'tis the damn season" from Evermore. Two of the songs now cut from the setlist, "The Archer" and "Long Live," were initially excluded from the theatrical release of The Eras Tour movie. Taylor Swift resumed “The Eras Tour” by kicking off its European leg with a show in Paris, France on Thursday, May 9th.
As it marked her first concert since the release of her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, the setlist saw Swift perform eight of the album’s tracks live for the first time, including “But Daddy I Love Him,” “So High School,” “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?”, “Down Bad,” “Fortnight,” “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” and “loml.” The first seven songs were played during the Ttpd “era” of her set, which also featured new visuals and choreography. The Venice Film Festival will fete Australian director and screenwriter Peter Weir with its honorary Golden Lion at its forthcoming 80th edition.
Accepting the honor, Weir said: “The Venice Film Festival and its Golden Lion are part of the folklore of our craft. To be singled out as a recipient for a lifetime’s work as a director is a considerable honor.”
Born in August 1944, Weir was one of the pivotal figures in the Australian New Wave cinema of the 70s. He began his career in 1969 when he took a job with the government-funded Commonwealth Film Unit as a director. Weir struck out on his own in 1973 and directed his first feature film, the comic-horror The Cars That Ate Paris (1974), which he also wrote. He won an international audience with Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975), followed by The Last Wave (1977), for which he also co-wrote the screenplay.

The Venice Film Festival will honor Australian director and screenwriter Peter Weir (Dead Poets Society, The Truman Show, Master and Commander) with its Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 81st edition, running Aug. 28 to Sept 7.
The decision was made by the board of la Biennale di Venezia, based on a proposal made by festival director Alberto Barbera.
“The Venice Film Festival and its Golden Lion are part of the folklore of our craft,” said Weir. “To be singled out as a recipient for a lifetime’s work as a director is a considerable honor.”
Said Barbera: “With a total of only 13 movies directed over the course of 40 years, Peter Weir has secured a place in the firmament of the great directors of modern cinema. The Venice Film Festival will honor Australian director and screenwriter Peter Weir – whose body of work comprises “Dead Poets Society,” “The Truman Show,” and “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World” – with its 2024 Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement.

Barbera added that Weir made a name for himself at the end of the 1970s as the leading figure behind the rebirth of Australian cinema thanks to two movies: “The Cars That Ate Paris” (1974) and cult classic “Picnic at Hanging Rock” (1975). Swift's track 5 songs are chosen for their emotional depth, vulnerability, and powerful storytelling. Not all track 5s are created equal - some, like "All You Had To Do Was Stay," fall short in conveying true emotion. The standout track 5, "All Too Well," remains a fan-favorite and showcases Swift's songwriting mastery.
Whether they're more fitting to the particular placement criteria or simply of higher quality, some of Taylor Swift's 11 track 5 songs across her vast musical discography are better than others. With the release of what turned out to be a double album, The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, Swift brought her career total albums to 11 (along with four re-recorded Taylor's Versions). On every Taylor Swift album since her debut in 2006, the prolific artist has selected the most soul-baring song to occupy the fifth spot on the album's tracklist.

The 49th Chaplin Award Gala saw dozens of stars take to the red carpet to honor Jeff Bridges. The annual fundraiser benefits the Lincoln Center’s nonprofit sector, which supports student programs, film festivals, and movie series. Bridges received the iconic Chaplin Award as his former co-stars Chris Pine, Cynthia Erivo, Sharon Stone, Chris Pine, and Rosie Perez applauded him. Many supporters couldn’t help but notice the latter actor. Perez turns 60 this year and still looks amazing.

Chris Pine, Cynthia Erivo, Kieran Culkin, Sharon Stone and Rosie Perez celebrated Jeff Bridges’ seven-decade career at the 49th annual Chaplin Awards Gala in New York City on Monday night. But the Big Lebowski star almost chose a different career path.
During his acceptance speech for the Film at Lincoln Center‘s prestigious honor, the True Grit star shared that he originally “resisted” the idea of pursuing acting full-time for a few different reasons.
“It made me nervous, anxious, and I had other things I wanted to do,” he told the full auditorium at Alice Tully Hall. “I was very much into music. I loved ceramics, painting, and who wants to do what their parents do anyway?”
He recalled his father, actor Lloyd Bridges, explaining to him that he could do all of those things in this career path and use them all to some degree, which was one of the beauties of the job.

Rosie Perez is crediting former co-star Jeff Bridges for her casting in “Fearless” (1993). Perez says the studio “had a problem” with their on-screen “interracial relationship,” but that Bridges went “to bat” for her.
“Fearless” was distributed by Warner Bros. It centered on Bridges’ character Max Klein surviving a plane crash and connecting with his fellow survivor (Perez). Isabella Rossellini and John Turturro co-starred.
“Early in my career, I had auditioned for ‘Fearless,’ directed by Peter Weir. Although I knew I nailed it, they could see I was really, really, extremely nervous, so I wasn’t really sure,” Perez said during the 2024 Chaplin Award Tribute gala honoring Bridges. “I was extremely surprised to get a callback – surprised because I also knew the studio didn’t want me for the role. Then they said for round two that they wanted me to meet with Jeff Bridges. Holy shit! That’s Jeff Bridges!

Jeff Bridges isn’t like other leading men. So goes the tale for over 50 years and 70 films. Where other actors of his generation—Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson—brought volume and bravado, Bridges excelled in the shadows. A charming pretty boy turned weary and soulful iconoclast, his characters have never been showy. As The Dude in “The Big Lebowski” or Bad Blake in “Crazy Heart,” he’s moved into his roles and lived in them—“enough,” as one critic wrote as early as 1973, “to make a picture worth seeing.”
“I’m not sure what to make of all that,” Bridges told Variety at Film at Lincoln Center Monday evening, where the actor received the prestigious Chaplin Award. “It’s shocking for myself to think about how many films I’ve done,” he said. “Each film is like a little lifetime. Bill Kong is cautious, vastly experienced and has an impeccable reputation as a key gateway between Hollywood and China to maintain. He is someone far more likely to deadpan than gush.
So, to hear him getting into high gear with a pitch for his bucket list martial arts movie project “The Furious” immediately invites comparison with previous Kong-produced action pictures including Oscar-winner “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” “Jet Li’s Fearless” or the Zhang Yimou-directed “Hero.”
“I’m going to do an action movie that rocks the world. And to prove that Hong Kong still has something to give the film industry. I want to show that Asian people can still make an action movie that is better than the rest of the world,” Kong tells Variety.
Significantly, “The Furious” is a project made by Hong Kong, rather than made in Hong Kong. Kong’s Edko Films is financing and producing.

Taylor Swift started off as a country artist at a time when the genre was both less respectful and accommodating of the voices of women than at any other point in its storied history. The singer’s first four albums barely scan as country music in a meaningful way, instead embracing her preternatural gifts for pop conventions, and her output has gotten stronger the more openly she’s embraced those skills. In the 18 years since the single “Tim McGraw” launched Swift to country stardom, she’s jettisoned the genre’s ill-fitting signifiers and overcome the limitations of her early recordings—improvements captured in her “Taylor’s Version” re-recordings as a powerful statement of artistic agency.
After spending the last year traveling the world on her Eras Tour, Swift has returned with a double album, The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology. To celebrate, we’ve revisited all 11 of her studio albums...

Of all the unpredictable creative exchanges Jack Antonoff has experienced, only one has been digitally immortalized forever — and it was the one. During sessions for Taylor Swift’s 2017 album, Reputation, there was a moment where she was so charged from the magic in the room that she literally screamed — as fans saw in a video she captured on her phone.
Antonoff had been staggering his way through the epic bridge on “Getaway Car.” “I’m in a getaway car, and I’m losing my … something,” the artist-producer offered. The pair...

Since 2009, Taylor Swift and Kanye West have been locked in one of the tensest battles in celebrity history. They mostly stayed out of each other’s ways after their first, infamous, televised moment together until a public reconciliation in 2015 made it seem like all of that was just water under the bridge. But who knew the worst was yet to come?
Things between Swift and West would not only worsen immensely in 2016, after West released his song “Famous,” but their web would soon entangle Kim Kardashian, Scooter Braun, and even Justin Bieber.

If the song title “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” doesn’t say it all, wait until you hear the lyrics.
“Were you sent by someone who wanted me dead?/Did you sleep with a gun underneath our bed?/Were you writing a book? Were you a sleeper cell spy?/In 50 years will all this be declassified?,” Taylor Swift sings on track 14 from The Tortured Poets Department. “I would’ve died for your sins/Instead I just died inside/And you deserve prison/But you won’t get time.”
It’s clear songwriting is Swift’s specialty, and her new album features her superb storytelling. As she processes a breakup, the lyrics will hit you in the gut or smack you in the face — sometimes both on the same song. As she turns another page in her personal diary on her 11th album, Swift bares it all, and the songs...
