It has been reported that, when Zozo was released in Lebanese theaters, much of the audience walked out 20 mins through the film as they could not bare the reality of the bombing scene depicted having lived it just 15 years earlier.
The director, Josef Fares, have casted his own relatives in "Zozo", as he has done in other films. We see Abdulahad Fares as Rita's dad and hear Fares Fares (Josefs brother) as the voice of the chicken.
The director, Josef Fares, began his life in Lebanon and came to Sweden as a young child, just like Zozo.
Selected to represent Sweden at the 78th Annual Academy Awards (2006) in the Foreign Language Film category.
