A foray into the solitude of a man's post modern psyche

This was the best received movie at the Hot Springs Film Festival 2005, Followed closely by Tupac Resurrection. The audience immediately identified with the Hero, Devin Colvin. Devin seemed to personify the rage of everyman. Being bested by all of his friends, Devin drew from a very deep well of collegial loathing in his portrayal. It is as if he is Battling the entire world. The viewer sees their own solitude in Devin's desperate flailing against the unattainable prize of breaking through the two minute wall. All of Devin's vain attempts are in stark contrast to the post modern world about him that moves blissfully unobservant of his pain. Or does it? Devin's Performance raises some poignant questions for the audience. I can say it moved me to some much overdue introspection. For that I am truly grateful On another note. A true renaissance man, all of Devin's stunts are indeed performed by himself. But, what is most compelling is what is not seen. Devin's credo not just as an artist but as a man, is laid bare in this work of cinema verite. At his insistence, Devin is not credited with performing these stunts. Of particular note is the life threatening stunt as the credits roll. There is no body double. Yes, that is Devin narrowly avoiding the crippling injury that would result from becoming a human hood ornament. Well done Devin.
