Won the Grand Prize of the 2003 Chicago 72-Hour Feature Project. Proposals for the 72HFP came from all over the world, and twelve were selected from three different countries. Hanging had its world premiere at the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago, Illinois, on June 23, 2003. The film screened a second time on June 28th upon the announcement of its win.
