Maria Carlota lives in the country with her grandfather and her stepbrothers in a ranch. Her cousin Maria Corina is a glamorous city girl, who runs a successful advertising agency and is engaged to the man of her dreams. Pastor, their grandfather calls a family meeting and asks his solicitor Ricardo to read his will. The clauses and conditions of the document makes Maria Carlota and Maria Corina the heiresses of his property which fuels the anger and envy of the stepbrothers Santiago and Augustin. However the youngest of the brothers, Luis Carlos accepts Pastor's will and is eager to continue helping Maria Carlota. Santiago and Augustin immediately begin to plot how to get rid of Pastor, falsify his will and force Maria Carlota to leave the ranch for good. Meanwhile Maria Carlota is unable to resist Ricardo's charms and falls in love. Maria Corina hates the ranch, constantly praises her fiance Joaquin and can't wait to get married which makes Luis Carlos very sad since he's been in love with her since childhood.
