Van Erp preps Kristel docu
AMSTERDAM -- The life of Dutch actress Sylvia Kristel, known in the '70s for her title role in the French soft-porn series Emmanuelle, will be examined in a documentary by Michiel van Erp, the Dutch director announced Wednesday. Last month, the actress published her autobiography, Nue, in France. According to van Erp, the 54-year-old actress has not received enough recognition in her home country. She has been snubbed for years by the Dutch Film Festival in Utrecht, the city where she was born. "She is one of the few Dutch actresses who made it abroad," said van Erp, who also pointed out that Kristel also is an accomplished filmmaker -- her short, Topor et Moi, has won several awards on the festival circuit. Van Erp's documentary will span all the turbulent events of Kristel's life, including her drug addiction, her many love affairs and her battle against cancer. The as-yet-untitled documentary will be produced by Dutch broadcaster NPS.
