He Dies At The End
The title’s kind of a spoiler here. But it’s also a clever hook, because it means you spend the entire four minutes and 29 seconds wondering how, exactly, he’s going to die. The 'he' here is an office worker, tapping away at his computer after hours, apparently alone - until someone starts asking him creepy questions via his computer screen.
It’s deceptively simple (after all, it’s...

'Savage' hits selected Irish cinemas with full force on Friday, September 17th. Written and directed by Brendan Muldowney (The Ten Steps) in his feature film debut, the harrowing film examines the far reaching effects of a violent attack on Paul Graynor, played by Darren Healy (Eamon). Iftn spoke with Brendan Muldowney about making the move from shorts to features and the unsettling areas of inspiration behind 'Savage'. Main protagonist Paul Graynor is an alienated press photographer who lives and works in an unfriendly and threatening Dublin. Falling victim to a random attack Paul finds himself the subject rather than the purveyor of an inner city tabloid story. He tries to come to terms with the attack but the physical and psychological scars refuse to heal.

Photo: Criterion Collection (2001 DVD edition) Tomorrow (7/20), Criterion will release Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's Black Narcissus on Blu-ray and Special Edition DVD and I watched it over the weekend once again in preparation for my review of the Blu-ray and was enjoying every minute of it, but not only that, the shot I've included just to the right and the sound that accompanied it got me thinking. It reminded me of the fog horns blaring away in the trailer for Inception and with the free time I had I began tooling around trying to make an Inception inspired trailer of Black Narcissus using Zack Hemsey's "Mind Heist" which was used in the Inception trailer that has become familiar to us all.
My goal in this was to 1) have a little fun with a video and 2) try to show the doubters out there a film from 1947 can be just as...
