the Darna Checklist: Scantily-clad flying super-heroine? Check. Supervillains trying to take over the world? Check. Handsome love interests? Check. Fantastical special effects? Well...
Darna is a promising new concept on TV: a comic-book like storytelling of the trials of a Superheroine destined to become the savior of mankind against super evil that is desperate to create havoc all over. Angel Locsin, fresh from her stint as bird-girl Alwina on 'Mulawin' starts as Darna, the local version of Wonder Woman. Actors and included in the bill are Eddie Garcia, Sandy Andolong, Christopher de Leon, Alessandra de Rossi, and a whole slew of other great actors.
Even the commercialization of the parent network was outstanding: there is no lack of TV guesting and promotions. In fact, the first few episodes are top-raters.
However, there are a few shortcomings that are not easy to overlook. Firstly, some of the special effects are so bad, its annoying. Obviously, the directors lack of vision, and probably due to the lack of budget alloted for special effects. However, no high budget is needed if the director had the vision... Peter Jackson and George Lucas created their first masterpieces with virtually no budget at all.
Secondly, the characters are one-dimensional: Evil aunt is evil. Hero girl's parents are pitiful. Oh and don't forget a big evil snake ala-anaconda to make things worse.
Thirdly, overacting, overacting everywhere! Hello Sandy Andolong? We can't blame her actually, she hasn't acted for a while. But isn't your 'screaming evil character' just too much? We hope there's development regarding this on future episodes.
n a final note, regardless of all these wee complaints, Darna is still a top-rater among evening audiences. The problem arises when audiences will finally realize that these problems are hard to overlook, Darna might lose the top spot.

This is the first television adaptation of Mars Ravelo's "Darna" and Angel Locsin's second major teleserye following the "Mulawin" phenomenon. While its special effects may not have been on par with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, somehow its Spy Kids-style visuals effectively captured the imagination of younger audiences, immersing them in the show's fantasy world.
I was a kid when this series premiered, and I was captivated by its storyline. Unlike the film adaptations, where villains were taken directly from the original comics, this version introduced new antagonists along with Valentina created by the legendary Celia Rodriguez, notably known in the series as Braguda.
Beyond the story, Angel Locsin's presence and aura were reminiscent of a Bond girl or Angelina Jolie in Tomb Raider. She was the perfect fit for the role, effortlessly embodying Narda's innocence and Darna's fierce determination with every transformation scenes. Meanwhile, Alessandra De Rossi's casting as Valentina came as no surprise, her off-screen reputation already hinted at her ability to portray such a complex character. And yet, she absolutely owned the role. She was utterly convincing as a spoiled rich girl hiding a deep, sinister secret. I also loved how her character was written like a butterfly in a cocoon, we had to wait until the middle of the series to witness her final transformation, with her hair finally turning into snakes.
By far, this remains the best version of Darna. The storyline felt fresh, and even today, with Locsin's continued humanitarian efforts, people still associate her with the iconic superhero. Even Generation Alpha recognizes her as "Darna". So comparing her to Marian Rivera and other actresses like Vilma Santos who have played the role in film and series adaptations, Angel Locsin remains the definitive and most beloved Darna of all time. She's the best one!

Darna is another wretch show produced by annoying GMA 7. Darna is about an ordinary girl, who became super hero. Ohhh well.
Well obviously Darna is a trying hard comic-book remake by Mars Ravelo's classic. The lame and crap special effects makes this TV series so annoying. The Lead girl was terrible! On her flying scenes, she was like a flying cockroach, who is chased by annoying villains. The dumb actors also makes this TV series crap. Some actors, who are veteran in acting, looks laughable here. They're annoying! Even Alessandra De Rossi (Who is really create in "Small Voices") looks crap! The crappy costumes too! They like cutted from rags and carpets and tie together and make an awful costume. There are so many plot holes, I guess GMA makes the CRAP storyline MORE CRAP! And plus, Angel Locsin, also good in "The Echo" is the WORST Darna ever.
To International subscribers of GMA Crap Pinoy TV: AVOID all costs...this show is really horrible.
The Filipinos: Well good luck!

This is a first tv series version of darna, and Angel Locsin is great actress. It was also here that Angel Locsin was known for her performance as Darna. I just want to say this show is good even though we know it is an adaptation but we can say that the story is different from the original story in the comics.
Another garbage to flog Philippine television. "Darna" was a fairly anticipated show but a few weeks after its debut, viewers have more to complain about than celebrate.
What's wrong with this series? There are too many cast members. Not enough screen time for all of them. Too many evil characters. The plot is lacking. Character development is insufficient. The series starts off okay at first, but after a few episodes, it predictably goes the route of a soap opera --- a bad one. The lead actress looks great in her costume but lacks charisma. The supporting actors are either over the top or can't act. Avoid this one like the plague.
