I really enjoyed this film when I saw it at the LA Intl. Short Film Festival. Although I had a film in the same block as "Taco Chick", it was the best film in the hour and a half screening. I was afraid of what I was about to see, since I knew nothing about this film but the poster, and I was pleasantly surprised to find myself laughing throughout.
One problem with the film is that it was a bit long. Most of the short films in the "Remedial Super Hero School" block of films were, especially "Lick-it Man", but don't get me started on that film. I think the battle sequence with the Barbie robots went a bit too long. Also, some of the special effects were rough, like the blob of "red" on Ken's face from Salsa Girl that did not really do anything. It would have been nice to see Ken melt (being plastic looking and all), but maybe this was too obvious of a choice. Either way, these are petty, little things that do not take away from the very smart short film. I hope this is not the last we see of "TC & SG".
