While the first day of spring technically belongs to March, everyone knows that it kicks into high gear in April. To celebrate the changing of the seasons, Hulu is finally bringing back its signature original series for April 2021.
Season 4 of the multiple Emmy award-winning The Handmaid’s Tale premieres on April 28. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen June and her dystopian world. In fact, it’s been so long that our own world decided to endure its own dystopian pandemic in the meantime. Hopefully this series’ return will mean we can keep our political and social collapses on television where they belong.
Aside from The Handmaid’s Tale, Hulu isn’t brining much else to the table in terms of originals this month. Thankfully, the one other original that Hulu has in store for April sounds completely righteous. Sasquatch, the latest docuseries from the Duplass brothers producing team, will cover exactly what the title promises.

Okay, so we're agreed that "The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia" is the most stupidly contradictory movie title since "Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector."
Like 2009's hit horror flick "The Haunting in Connecticut," this one is based on a 1988 "true story" that was covered on the Discovery Channel series "A Haunting," in which the Wyrick family moved to a new home in the "Wisdom, Justice, Moderation" state only to discover that not all is peachy.
Turns out their daughter Heidi (Emily Alyn Lind of "Enter the Void") is particularly attuned to some bad psychic juju and begins to see the spirits of both a kindly old caretaker and a malevolent "Dark Figure" who can physically manifest. The mom and dad, played by TV vets Chad Michael Murray ("One Tree Hill") and Abigail Spencer ("Mad Men"), eventually make contact with some paranormal researchers who tell them the bad news about their property,...

Hollywood has often been described as "The Dream Factory," but when it comes to animated movies cartoonists can fudge the line between a dream romantic coupling and a laughable OkCupid date gone wrong.
Be it chunky monkey Ray Winstone sexing up Angelina Jolie in "Beowulf" or Meryl Streep winding up Mrs. George Clooney in "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" (which even she admitted was hilarious), there are many examples of said pairings — and here are ten more for you to fantasize about.
1. Ray Romano and Queen Latifah, "Ice Age: The Meltdown" (2006)
With her sassy boisterousness and his whiney timidity, Latifah and Romano are a match made in … well, somewhere. Their portrayal of wooly mammoths Manny and Ellie in the last three "Ice Age" movies produced not only brilliant chemistry but also a cartoon daughter, Peaches. Whether that vocal chemistry could translate to live-action success remains to be seen … "Bringing Down the House...

It's award season. The Razzies are preparing to announce their "winners" (or is it losers?) of the year when it comes to Worst Movies of the Year and they have a special category for Worst Movies of the Decade. I'm reminded of the ickiest of the icks when it comes to film's marketed to kids (children through teens). These are the three worst movies marketed to kids of the decade.
Larry The Cable Guy: Health Inspector
I'm sure you're familiar with the Blue Collar comedian for his girth and low-brow humor. So it should of been no surprise when he finally got his own movie and yeah, it was revolting. The story revolved around Larry's character being a city health inspector trying to find the cause of a string of nasty outbreaks in fancy restaurants. The first five minutes can sum up what you're in for: peeing in the shower,...

The Spy Next Door sounds like a lesser film in the James Bond cannon, but even that is far too kind a designation for this Jackie Chan movie. The Hong Kong action star uses all of his considerable charm and physicality, but it's not enough to save the film from the clutches of director Brian Levant, who has previously ruined family trips to the movies with Are We There Yet?, The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, and Snow Dogs. If parents think getting conned into watching this is a miserable experience, they should wait for the whine-filled aftermath when they realize their kids didn't like it either.
A retread of The Pacifier by way of Spy Kids, The Spy Next Door stars Chan as Bob Ho, a Chinese agent on loan to the CIA. After just a few months of dating his pretty neighbor Gillian (Amber Valetta), Bob tries to...

Have you ever been watching a movie where the characters are enjoying a bite to eat at some fictional restaurant that looks so real and so good, you immediately Google the name to see if it actually exists … only to be majorly disappointed when you find out it was just created for the movie? Happens to me all the time, but it's nice to go back and take a look at just how many made-up restaurants are actually out there. Statemaster came up with a massive list of fictional restaurants in movies, TV and video games. Basically, if it exists out there in some form, they have it on there. Included is everything from the Big Kahuna Burger in Pulp Fiction to Big Shug's Chicken n' Waffles in Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector. Oh yes, no stone was left unturned on this bad...

Kevin Spacey will produce and star in the indie comedy Father Of Invention. Trent Cooper (Larry The Cable Guy: Health Inspector) will both direct and immediately kill any interest I might have had in even finishing this article. As such, here is a quick cut and paste of the plot: Story centers on a humble inventor-turned-egomaniacal billionaire who loses it all when one of his inventions goes horribly awry. After eight years in federal prison, he returns bankrupt, homeless and determined to...

Kevin Spacey is set to star in indie comedy Father of Invention, as a bankrupt billionaire - well, former billionaire presumably - a role that seems extremely timely in this credit-crunched era.The plot sees Spacey play a once humble inventor who turned egomaniac when his creations finally took off. But he loses everything when one of his inventions goes horribly awry, and after eight years in federal prison, he is released, homeless, penniless but determined to rebuild his fortune. Does this sound like the beginning of Superman Returns to anyone else? The plot better not see him moving in on a dying heiress.Trent Cooper of, er, Larry The Cable Guy: Health Inspector fame will direct, after writing the script with Jonathan Krane and Nichole Beattie. Spacey will produce as well as starring.

Parallel books rights to Sallis series
Parallel Entertainment Pictures has acquired film rights to novelist James Sallis' series of Lew Griffin crime novels.
The novels center on Griffin, a New Orleans-based literature professor and former private investigator who works to unravel missing-persons cases while battling his own personal demons. The series includes such titles as Long Legged Fly, Moth, Black Hornet, Eye of the Cricket, Bluebottle and Ghost of a Flea.
Sallis is no stranger to Hollywood, as his novel Drive recently was acquired by Universal Pictures for producer Marc Platt.
Parallel principal J.P. Williams and the company's Alan Blomquist are developing the series as feature film adaptations. Parallel head of development Jennifer Novak is overseeing.
Williams said he is hoping to bring back the tradition of an ongoing detective movie series and already is discussing the series with actors.
Parallel recently financed and produced the features Delta Farce and Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector, both distributed by Lionsgate. The company is in production on Witless Protection, starring Larry the Cable Guy and Jenny McCarthy.
Sallis is repped by APA.

Lee-Washington pic tops b.o. with $29 mil
Spike Lee's heist movie Inside Man took it all the way to the bank for the weekend, withdrawing an estimated $29 million from the domestic boxoffice to become the No. 1 film in the marketplace. Among the other new openers, Buena Vista Pictures' PG-13 horror movie Stay Alive intrigued the teen audience, which rewarded it with an estimated $11.2 million and a third-place showing, but Lionsgate Films' Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector had to settle for $7.1 million, which earned it a seventh-place finish. Inside Man easily trumped the previous weekend's boxoffice winner, Warner Bros. Pictures' V for Vendetta, which witnessed a 51.9% decline and dropped to second place. Its weekend tally of an estimated $12.3 million brought its domestic total to date to $46.2 million.
