The zombie hunter claims that zombies can only be stopped by "Destroying the brain or removing the head". This is a reference to a line in "Night of the Living Dead" that states zombies can only be stopped by "Removing the head, or destroying the brain". Later Russel says "He's dead, he's all messed up" when taking about a zombie, a reference to the famous line "They're dead, they're all messed up" from this film.
At one point Nick immitates a zombie by shouting "Brains! Brains! Human brains!" This is a reference to this film which is the only movie (not including it's sequels) to have brain-eating zombies who shout "Brains!"
Nick asks about whether spades or bats would make good weapons against zombies, to which to zombie hunter replies "Don't be silly, this isn't the movies!" This is a reference to how their characters in "Shaun of the Dead" used a cricket bat and a shovel as weapons against zombies. At another point, Russel says the zombie could just be "a drunk who's lost a bet". This is a reference to the line in this film where someone tells them how to act like a zombie "A sad, vacant expression -like a drunk who's lost a bet"
Nick Frost reprises his role as the presenter of this show which is a parody of Danger 5000 Volts. It uses nearly the same titles and spoofs the style.
