Mumbai, Aug 9 (Ians) Filmmaker Anant Mahadevan Narayan’s film ‘Phule’ which is based on one of India’s biggest proponents for women’s education, Jyotirao Govindrao Phule has entered its post-production stage.
The film will detail the life of the great Indian icon and how he struggled to bring to light women’s education at a very difficult time when India was in its peak of colonial oppression and their fight against the injustices of the caste system.
Talking about his film, Mahadevan told Variety ““The two of them are lethal, the husband and wife, because at a time when the girl child was being refused education and just pushed into marriage, Jyotirao chose to actually educate his little wife – she was just 11 at that time, he was 17 when they got married, because it was the time of child marriage.”

New Delhi, June 14 (Ians) While donating blood is a selfless act and a humanitarian gesture, it also helps improve the health of the donor, said experts here on World Blood Donation Day on Wednesday.
The World Blood Donation Day is celebrated around the world on June 14 to raise global awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products, and to express gratitude for blood donors for their voluntary life-saving gift.
Healthy adults above 18 years of age can donate blood once every three months. Donating blood can help in the early detection of certain health conditions, such as anaemia or infectious diseases, which may otherwise go unnoticed.
Regular blood donation is also linked to lower blood pressure, helps maintain healthy iron levels in the body, and lowers risk for heart attacks, the experts said.

Even Steven Spielberg, one of the most important filmmakers in the world, “never” truly knows whether or not a film will succeed.
The acclaimed director who helmed a number of classic films, including 1975’s “Jaws” when he was just 26-years-old, admits that he “never would have guessed that so many people would have gone to see” the popular film about hunting a killer shark.
“In my mind, the shark looked dumb,” Spielberg tells W for the magazine’s Directors Issue. “When I went to the first preview, in Dallas, and people were screaming and popcorn was flying at the screen, my first feeling was—Oh my god! I didn’t think any of this was going to work. The truth is, you never ever know.”

The Kanye West backlash over his antisemitic remarks could be the reason he is denied entry into Australia. Sky News reported that the rapper was planning a trip Down Under to visit his partner’s family.
“People like that who’ve applied for visas to get into Australia in the past have been rejected,” Minister for Education Jason Clare told Channel Nine in an interview. “I expect that if he does apply he would have to go through the same process and answer the same questions that they did.”
West, who goes by Ye, made a series of antisemitic comments in October 2022 and doubled down on his sentiments as he went on an interview tour that included Fox News’ Tucker Carlson’s show and The Shop, which ultimately scrapped the episode due to the severeness of his remarks. The rapper was subsequently dropped by Adidas and other business deals.

Three Thousand Years Of Longing is the latest film from George Miller, the Australian director best known for the Mad Max film franchise that had new life breathed into it with the stellar Fury Road in 2015. Miller is similarly ambitious in this new film, about a scholar of narrative Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) traveling to Turkey and her chance encounter with an immortal Djinn (Idris Elba)
It’s an interesting setup, a lover of stories being offered three wishes, but first choosing to hear the stories of how the Djinn was trapped for, well, three thousand years. Swinton’s character is also appropriately suspicious of the proposition, accusing him several times of being a trickster. You can’t accuse Alithea of lacking the awareness of some horror movie protagonists, but it won’t necessarily stay consistent throughout the whole story.

Director Ananth Mahadevan is all set to showcase Aksar 2 to the audience on the 6th of October. However, he feels that the film is being perceived as an erotica, which it is not. In fact Aksar 2 is a thrilling suspense drama that will keep the audience at the edge of their seats.
“The first Aksar was about a man asking another to seduce his wife, so it automatically lent itself to being a steamy film. But Aksar 2 is not in that genre at all. It is about six people coming together and playing mind games, and then realizing that things can boomerang. It is a classic suspense, old fashioned noir,” explained the concerned director.
The first trailer that was presented to the audience had a couple of love making scenes between Zareen Khan and Abhinav Shukla. However Ananth exclaims that films today do have steamy scenes but...

Having received immense appreciation for the film’s trailer, the makers of Aksar 2 were a tad bit anxious about the reaction from audiences when they recently released the first song titled Aaj Zid.
Especially after the enormous success of the music of the first installment, there was a certain pressure when it came to delivering their first song. Of course they did not disappoint the audience with Aaj Zid which is a rage on YouTube with more than 8 million views and innumerable positive responses!
To this director Ananth Mahadevan said, “Aaj Zid has crossed the 8 million mark invoking memories of the 2006 chartbuster Aksar. Himesh Reshammiya is back to facing the camera. While it is a known fact by now that his next film as an actor is titled The Xpose, the newest development is that it would be directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, who recently won 4 National Awards for his Marathi film Mee Sindhutai Sapkal. "Other than this, Mahadevan has been at the helm of another critically acclaimed film Red Alert - The War Within (2009). Now with The Xpose, he and Himesh are looking at probing the decade of 60s which has never been explored before. In fact it would be entering a space that will be a revelation in Hindi cinema." With ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, ‘Fukrey’ and ‘Raanjhanaa’ doing well, industry is in a buoyant mood. This should be further aided by the arrival of ‘Ghanchakkar’ which is carrying positive vibes. Talkie promos of the film have managed to garner some very good response. These should also ensure that at multiplexes, the film opens well and consolidates its position by close of Friday itself.
In fact this is also one of those rare Emraan Hashmi films which is expected to open better at multiplexes than single screens. New Delhi: Udita Goswami who recently returned to the silver screen with ‘Diary of a Butterfly’ says that she did not actively stay out of the news for so long. She says that she was not on some long break but was busy with writing her own film script which she plans to co-direct and even act in.
Udita who made the audiences sit back and gulp with her role in her debut movie ‘Paap’, later moved to be typecast in thriller or suspense movies like ‘Aksar’, ‘Aggar’, ‘Zeher’, ‘Chase’ etc. This is not what she set out to become, she never wanted to act in multi-starrers, she says. She has had enough of doing films with 4 worthwhile scenes and 1 song. She would like to be the queen in her film, it should revolve around her, she emphasizes.
Is this why she is all ready.
