this film developed some dark themes, taking risks, and along the way succeeding at a lot of them. I think overall the film succeeds. It was shot beautifully. The cinematography alone is worth watching it for. Also i should add that it doesn't rely on over-cutting to tell the story. there are great long takes and subtle and sparse cutting. overall a very classy way to go about making a film....although this can be it Achilles heel since for some people, this nuanced sensibility will be lost on them for they pine for fast cuts and back and forth action, much like the music videos style so prevalent. what the film does so well though is develop characters. they are authentic and believable and for the most part lovable. I say most part, because, perhaps what we as the audience need is more empathy for the husband that gets mixed into this affair. its not quite there so i think that this hurts the film.
