Chang Xiangsi

According to available research, the film was begun by director Zhang Shichean in the autumn of 1946 after had an offer by Zhou Jianyan, producer of Great China, to direct the film in Hong Kong. Zhang had worked half way through when he was recalled to Shanghai to answer charges of treason. Though he was acquitted, Zhang suffered a heart attack, leaving director He Zhaozhang to finish the film.
