The film is based on Joe Hansard's former real life occupation as a baggage handler at BWI International Airport during the 80s.
The producers did not have permission to film at BWI, so the Gannett building in Arlington Virgina doubled as the "airport" location because of its remarkable architectural resemblance to an authentic airport terminal. Later, posing as tourists, the crew snapped up some quick pickup footage at the real BWI International Airport.
Won First Place in the comedy category of the 2006 Mid Atlantic Film Festival.
With screenwriter Paul Freeman, Hansard co-wrote a feature length version of "Lost in Transportation," retitled "Lug Nuts," and is now busy pitching the project as a feature film or TV series to anyone who will listen.
