Sherilyn Fenn and Jill Shackner were originally cast as the female leads Janet Davis (renamed as Laura) and Lydia Davis, but were replaced by Elizabeth McGovern and Teresa Celentano. They starred in the unaired pilot episode, which also featured a guest appearance by Majandra Delfino.
