Nice movie. One of the early ones which explored the subject of Divorce in a country where and when at that time it was still taboo for married couples to separate. But now, divorce is fast becoming a practical and common option, tho still not sanctioned in a predominantly Catholic country like the Philippines.
Divorce is up until now a ticklish issue in this country. The Church maintains that disallowing it will help strengthen matrimony as an institution. But progressive views think otherwise; it will only create "weak" relationships for people with strained marriages and will not serve the society in good stead in the long run. The argument for and against divorce borders on shades of gray; it's neither black nor white. Liberal minds tend to subscribe to an "out" option for failed marriages. Conservative ones however want to avoid abusing it as a "failsafe" mechanism.
