Yeah, it’s unfortunately that time again for Dino Crisis fans. After Konami finally listening to Silent Hill fans last week, and Capcom giving Resident Evil fans the goods with the Resident Evil 4 remake, where’s the love for Panic Horror? Sadly, that’s not coming for the time being from Capcom, but Gvmers is back with another of their documentaries, this time focusing on Dino Crisis.

The Gvmers documentary covers the inception of Dino Crisis, which obviously owes much of its success to Resident Evil. The inevitable comparisons to both franchises are discussed, alon with Shinji Mikami‘s concept of Panic Horror, compared with Resident Evil‘s Survival Horror.

From there, the documentary covers the development of the sequels, and their gradual move away from what made the original Dino Crisis so memorable for many fans. Consequently, the sequels after Dino Crisis 2 saw diminishing positive response from fans and critics.

Disney’s 20th Digital Studios has been releasing horror shorts as the Bite Size Halloween series on the Hulu streaming service for two seasons now, and a third season of the series is set to premiere on October 1st. Tomorrow! With that date so near, a trailer for Bite Size Halloween season 3 has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.

Balmain, the fashion house fronted by creative director Olivier Rousteing, is making a push in the entertainment space with the announcement of “Fracture,” a short-form drama series starring Tommy Dorfman, Jesse Jo Stark, Charles Melton and Ajani Russell.

Back then I managed to find posters for 19 of the 20 films in Palme d’Or contention; this year so far only 15 of the 24 seem to have finished key art. The Good Fight and Evil creators Robert and Michelle King are staying at their longtime studio home, CBS Studios. But this was not a straight-forward overall deal renewal. The big new five-year pact, said to be in the high eight figures with a potential to cross the nine-figure mark in success, came after months of negotiations.

It was touch and go for awhile with multiple suitors pursuing the prolific duo, including Universal Television, I hear. In the end, CBS Studios stepped up to keep two of their top creators in the fold, extending their tenure to 17 years.

Under the new agreement, CBS Studios will continue to have exclusive rights to produce content created by the Kings through their King Size Productions banner across all platforms. Liz Glotzer remains president of King Size Productions.

The Kings have successfully juggled multiple series for most of their 12 years to date at CBS Studios.

The number sure looks good on paper: For the first time, the Cannes Film Festival is hosting 20 female filmmakers among its Official Selection, including Competition, Un Certain Regard, and the newly-created Cannes Premiere section. And, yet, as often is the case with Cannes, the devil is in the details. And many of those devils sure look familiar.

Bouncing back from 2020 — during which the lauded festival did not host an actual event, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but did at least announce which films it would have included — Cannes has returned with a stuffed Selection, including 63 total films, accounting for a comparably large Competition section and an entirely new section in Cannes Premiere. Only 18 of those films are directed by one or more women, meaning that roughly 29 percent of the total lineup has at least one female director (two films are co-directed by two women).

HBO Max has a lot to offer in August, with titles to look forward to including the premiere of a brand new Seth Rogen movie called “An American Pickle” on Aug. 6, and Christopher Nolan’s 2008 Batman film “The Dark Knight” out Aug. 1.

The nascent streaming service also shares content with HBO, with new films coming like “Jojo Rabbit” out Aug. 1, “Birds of Prey” out Aug. 15, “Richard Jewell” out Aug. 8, and “Queen & Slim,” out Aug. 22. The upcoming series “Lovecraft County,” which mixes fact and fantasy and takes place in 1950s Jim Crow America, arrives Aug. 16.

Leaving throughout the month include, tragically, all eight “Harry Potter” films, which will be gone after Aug. 25. Other absolute classics like “Good Will Hunting,” “You’ve Got Mail,” and both “Kill Bill” movies will be gone after Aug. 31, so watch them while you can.

HBO Max is continuing to pull from Warner Bros.’ incredible back catalogue of movies, with August bringing a huge number of new titles to the streaming service. With over 130 new pieces of content, the list of upcoming arrivals encompasses classic films of all kinds, from Oscar winners to comedies, horrors to family pics and, of course, tons of blockbusters.

A highlight for many users will probably be the glut of Batman films coming to HBO Max at the start of the month. Every cinematic outing for the Caped Crusader from 1989’s Batman starring Michael Keaton to 2008’s The Dark Knight with Christian Bale (which just celebrated its 12th anniversary this weekend) are going up on the site. Sticking in Gotham, both seasons of Harley Quinn are also coming to HBO Max, following their original release on DC Universe.

It’s August 2020 and that can only mean one thing: HBO Max is about to enter Lovecraft Country.

Over the years HBO (and by the transitive property its new HBO Max streaming offshoot) has grown accustomed to debuting a buzzworthy new TV show or limited series every couple of months. For August 2020 that will almost certainly be Southern Gothic horror series Lovecraft Country. The J.J. Abrams and Jordan Peele-produced thriller arrives on August 14 on HBO and HBO Max.

Other strong HBO Max originals arriving in August include the documentary Class Action Park (release date Tbd), Seth Rogen-starring comedy An American Pickle (Aug. 6), and finales for I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, Doom Patrol, and Perry Mason.

Of course, HBO Max is designed to house much of WarnerMedia’s content across many mediums. That means some recent movies on note like Jojo Rabbit (Aug. 1), Richard Jewell (Aug. 8), and Birds of Prey (Aug.

Exclusive: Deb Aquila and Tricia Wood of the top tier casting office Aquila Wood Casting are leaving their exclusive five-year run at Lionsgate Films. The Artios Award winners will return to the realm of independent casting.

White at Lionsgate, the pair thrived and cast hit films including La-La Land starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling (which earned them their aforementioned Artios Award), Wonder starring Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson, Stronger starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Deepwater Horizon starring Mark Wahlberg and Kurt Russell as well as Overboard starring Ana Faris and Eugenio Derbez.

During their 20-year partnership, Aquila and Wood worked in every genre in film and TV. They recently set up their offices in Joe and Anthony Russo’s new Agbo independent film studio complex headquartered in Dtla.

“We’re excited to return to independent casting life so that we can participate in every form of storytelling,” said Aquila.

Brad Anderson, this director behind films such as Session 9, The Machinist, and Transsiberian, has a new film project he’s developing that sounds interesting. It’s called In Search of Captain Zero, and it seems like a very different kind of film from anything that the filmmaker has made before.

The movie is based on a book of the same name by Allan Weisbecker, and it tells the true-life story of how, in 1996, "the author sold his home and possessions, loaded his dog and surfboards into his truck, “and set off in search of his best friend and long-time surfing companion Christopher, who had vanished into the depths of Central America.”

According to Deadline, casting is underway, and it’s being eyed as “a strong two-hander, with a spring 2020 start date in the works.” Here’s the description of the story from the book, which sounds like a pretty incredible...

Exclusive: Brad Anderson has been set to direct In Search of Captain Zero, a film based on Allan Weisbecker’s true-life novel of the same name that has been adapted by Michael Bacall. The project hails from Ken Kao’s Waypoint Entertainment, which recently produced Yorgos Lanthimos’ Oscar-nominated The Favorite, with Kao and Mike Weber aboard as producers and Josh Rosenbaum and Ted Field executive producing.

When she filmed The Notebook, Rachel McAdams became the envy of many for being able to get close to Ryan Gosling on-screen and off.

The movie celebrates its 15th anniversary today, but it took the pair a bit longer to get together in real life. Gosling, 38, and McAdams, 42, played a couple in the classic 1940s love story — narrated from the present by a nursing home patient with the help of his journals.

The two met on set of the movie, which Gosling joined after a stint of independent films, while McAdams had just come off her iconic role as Regina George in Mean Girls.

Actor Cliff Curtis modestly acknowledges he is not a brand or a marquee name, despite a vast body of work which includes Once Were Warriors, Whale Rider, The Dark Horse, Blow, Three Kings, The Insider, Sunshine, Training Day, Collateral Damage and Crossing Over.

That could soon change as Curtis plays a key role in the latest iteration of Universal’s Fast & Furious franchise, followed by a recurring character in all four of James Cameron’s Avatar epics.

The “Less Than Zero” pilot at Hulu has rounded out its main cast with the addition of six more actors, Variety has learned.

Lily Donoghue, Cooper Koch, Keenan Jolliff, Ronen Rubinstein, and James Bloor have all joined the drama pilot, which is based on Bret Easton Ellis’ novel of the same name. They join previously announced series lead Austin Abrams, who will play Clay.

The story follows Clay, a college freshman returning home for Christmas to spend time with his ex-girlfriend and his friend who struggles with addiction. The series is described as a look at the culture of wealthy, decadent youth in Los Angeles. The book was previously adapted into a 1987 film of the same name starring Andrew McCarthy, Jami Gertz, Robert Downey Jr., and James Spader.

Hulu has rounded out the cast for its drama pilot Less Than Zero, an adaptation based on Bret Easton Ellis’ novel, from Ellis, Greenleaf creator Craig Wright and Fox 21 Television Studios.
