Saoirse Ronan has been leaving audiences speechless since she was very young. From getting nominated for an Oscar when she was 13 years old to starring as the lead in several other Oscar-winning and nominated films, there is no denying that she has a very respected image in the film industry. One of the first films that put her name out there was 2009’s The Lovely Bones.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Transplant Season 3 premiere “Fracture.”] Transplant has gone there. The Canadian import surprised fans at the end of the Season 3 premiere by revealing that Bash (Hamza Haq) and Mags (Laurence Leboeuf) are together, with the two meeting for a date (to see the world outside her apartment) and sharing a kiss. They’re so great at the will they/won’t they, and obviously you could kind of keep that going forever, but the more we wrote for them over two seasons, we just felt ourselves wanting to know what they’d be like as a couple,” creator Joseph Kay tells TV Insider. “One of the reasons their chemistry is so good...

Yeah, it’s unfortunately that time again for Dino Crisis fans. After Konami finally listening to Silent Hill fans last week, and Capcom giving Resident Evil fans the goods with the Resident Evil 4 remake, where’s the love for Panic Horror? Sadly, that’s not coming for the time being from Capcom, but Gvmers is back with another of their documentaries, this time focusing on Dino Crisis.
The Gvmers documentary covers the inception of Dino Crisis, which obviously owes much of its success to Resident Evil. The inevitable comparisons to both franchises are discussed, alon with Shinji Mikami‘s concept of Panic Horror, compared with Resident Evil‘s Survival Horror.
From there, the documentary covers the development of the sequels, and their gradual move away from what made the original Dino Crisis so memorable for many fans. Consequently, the sequels after Dino Crisis 2 saw diminishing positive response from fans and critics.

Exclusive: Deadline has the first exclusive track from Jeff Danna’s score for Julia, which is set for release tomorrow via Watertower Music.
HBO Max’s eight episode comedy series is inspired by Julia Child’s (Sarah Lancashire) extraordinary life and her long-running television series, The French Chef, which pioneered the modern cooking show. Through Julia’s life and her singular joie de vivre, the series explores a pivotal time in American history—the emergence of public television as a new social institution, feminism and the women’s movement, the nature of celebrity and America’s cultural evolution. At its heart, the show is a portrait of a loving marriage with a shifting power dynamic.
One of Danna’s main challenges in his work here was to develop a theme that could speak to both the culinary icon’s spirit, and the series’ “brilliant and warm showcase” of her early years on television.

Balmain, the fashion house fronted by creative director Olivier Rousteing, is making a push in the entertainment space with the announcement of “Fracture,” a short-form drama series starring Tommy Dorfman, Jesse Jo Stark, Charles Melton and Ajani Russell.
Created by Rousteing and his creative team at Balmain in partnership with Channel 4, the series will also serve as the debut of the brand’s Fall 2021 collection in lieu of a traditional seasonal campaign. It will launch globally on Sept. 2 at fractureseries.com.
“The fashion industry is in need of new narratives and new ideas. So, maybe it was the pandemic that pushed us — but for this year, my team and I were determined to break away from the pack,” Rousteing tells Variety. “It definitely seemed like the time to do something fresh. Above: Annette by Leos Carax. Design by Rysk Studio.Cannes is back, and so is my annual round-up of the posters for the films in the Palme d’Or competition. Ten years ago I went to Cannes for the first time and did a post-festival round-up of the Competition posters, leading off with Lars von Trier’s Melancholia. Back then I managed to find posters for 19 of the 20 films in Palme d’Or contention; this year so far only 15 of the 24 seem to have finished key art. The best of the 15 is a poster that I have already featured a number of times because it premiered almost a year and a half ago: Javi Aznaraz’s design for Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, which was listed in the Official Selection of the cancelled 2020 festival and also made my Best of 2020 list. Of the rest, the poster by Rysk studio...

The Good Fight and Evil creators Robert and Michelle King are staying at their longtime studio home, CBS Studios. But this was not a straight-forward overall deal renewal. The big new five-year pact, said to be in the high eight figures with a potential to cross the nine-figure mark in success, came after months of negotiations.
It was touch and go for awhile with multiple suitors pursuing the prolific duo, including Universal Television, I hear. In the end, CBS Studios stepped up to keep two of their top creators in the fold, extending their tenure to 17 years.
Under the new agreement, CBS Studios will continue to have exclusive rights to produce content created by the Kings through their King Size Productions banner across all platforms. Liz Glotzer remains president of King Size Productions.
The Kings have successfully juggled multiple series for most of their 12 years to date at CBS Studios.

The number sure looks good on paper: For the first time, the Cannes Film Festival is hosting 20 female filmmakers among its Official Selection, including Competition, Un Certain Regard, and the newly-created Cannes Premiere section. And, yet, as often is the case with Cannes, the devil is in the details. And many of those devils sure look familiar.
Bouncing back from 2020 — during which the lauded festival did not host an actual event, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but did at least announce which films it would have included — Cannes has returned with a stuffed Selection, including 63 total films, accounting for a comparably large Competition section and an entirely new section in Cannes Premiere. Only 18 of those films are directed by one or more women, meaning that roughly 29 percent of the total lineup has at least one female director (two films are co-directed by two women).

HBO Max is continuing to pull from Warner Bros.’ incredible back catalogue of movies, with August bringing a huge number of new titles to the streaming service. With over 130 new pieces of content, the list of upcoming arrivals encompasses classic films of all kinds, from Oscar winners to comedies, horrors to family pics and, of course, tons of blockbusters.
A highlight for many users will probably be the glut of Batman films coming to HBO Max at the start of the month. Every cinematic outing for the Caped Crusader from 1989’s Batman starring Michael Keaton to 2008’s The Dark Knight with Christian Bale (which just celebrated its 12th anniversary this weekend) are going up on the site. Sticking in Gotham, both seasons of Harley Quinn are also coming to HBO Max, following their original release on DC Universe.

It’s August 2020 and that can only mean one thing: HBO Max is about to enter Lovecraft Country.
Over the years HBO (and by the transitive property its new HBO Max streaming offshoot) has grown accustomed to debuting a buzzworthy new TV show or limited series every couple of months. For August 2020 that will almost certainly be Southern Gothic horror series Lovecraft Country. The J.J. Abrams and Jordan Peele-produced thriller arrives on August 14 on HBO and HBO Max.
Other strong HBO Max originals arriving in August include the documentary Class Action Park (release date Tbd), Seth Rogen-starring comedy An American Pickle (Aug. 6), and finales for I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, Doom Patrol, and Perry Mason.
Of course, HBO Max is designed to house much of WarnerMedia’s content across many mediums. That means some recent movies on note like Jojo Rabbit (Aug. 1), Richard Jewell (Aug. 8), and Birds of Prey (Aug.

Brad Anderson, this director behind films such as Session 9, The Machinist, and Transsiberian, has a new film project he’s developing that sounds interesting. It’s called In Search of Captain Zero, and it seems like a very different kind of film from anything that the filmmaker has made before.
The movie is based on a book of the same name by Allan Weisbecker, and it tells the true-life story of how, in 1996, "the author sold his home and possessions, loaded his dog and surfboards into his truck, “and set off in search of his best friend and long-time surfing companion Christopher, who had vanished into the depths of Central America.”
According to Deadline, casting is underway, and it’s being eyed as “a strong two-hander, with a spring 2020 start date in the works.” Here’s the description of the story from the book, which sounds like a pretty incredible...

Exclusive: Brad Anderson has been set to direct In Search of Captain Zero, a film based on Allan Weisbecker’s true-life novel of the same name that has been adapted by Michael Bacall. The project hails from Ken Kao’s Waypoint Entertainment, which recently produced Yorgos Lanthimos’ Oscar-nominated The Favorite, with Kao and Mike Weber aboard as producers and Josh Rosenbaum and Ted Field executive producing.
Casting is underway on what is being eyed as a strong two-hander, with a spring 2020 start date in the works.
Published in 2001, Weisbecker’s memoir details the story of how, in 1996, he sold his home and possessions, loaded his dog and surfboards into his truck, and set off in search of his best friend and long-time surfing companion Christopher, who had vanished into the depths of Central America.
Anderson is currently in post on Fracture, the Netflix movie starring Sam Worthington and Lily Rabe.

When she filmed The Notebook, Rachel McAdams became the envy of many for being able to get close to Ryan Gosling on-screen and off.
The movie celebrates its 15th anniversary today, but it took the pair a bit longer to get together in real life. Gosling, 38, and McAdams, 42, played a couple in the classic 1940s love story — narrated from the present by a nursing home patient with the help of his journals.
The two met on set of the movie, which Gosling joined after a stint of independent films, while McAdams had just come off her iconic role as Regina George in Mean Girls.

(L-r) Josh Mauga, Cliff Curtis, Dwayne Johnson, Roman Reigns and John Tui in the new Fast & Furious
Actor Cliff Curtis modestly acknowledges he is not a brand or a marquee name, despite a vast body of work which includes Once Were Warriors, Whale Rider, The Dark Horse, Blow, Three Kings, The Insider, Sunshine, Training Day, Collateral Damage and Crossing Over.

The director behind Session 9 and The Machinist, Brad Anderson, is set to helm a new survival thriller called Existence. The script for the film comes from Anthony Jaswinski, who wrote the hit shark thriller The Shallows.
This actually sounds like it’s going to be a pretty awesome movie! It’s inspired by the harrowing true story of the “1981 ill-fated shipwreck of a research vessel that became marooned after a typhoon on a remote island — the North Sentinel Island –in the Indian Ocean.” Here’s some additional information:
Upon exploring the terrain, the surviving crew encounters multiple terrors not only from the forces of nature but also from a sect of people who have existed in a primal state for about 60,000 years. Joining lead Austin Abrams are Lily Donoghue (The Goldbergs), Cooper Koch (Fracture), Keenan Jolliff (Rebel in the Rye), Ronen Rubinstein (Dead of Summer) and James Bloor (Dunkirk).
Adapted by Wright and directed by Brett Morgan, Less Than Zero follows Clay (Abrams), a college freshman returning home for Christmas to spend time with his ex-girlfriend and his friend who struggles with addiction. Less Than Zero presents a look at the culture of wealthy, decadent youth in Los Angeles.
Donoghue will play Blair, Clay’s sexy, smart former girlfriend who hopes to rekindle their relationship. Koch is Julian, Clay’s childhood best friend who has forgone college to live as a free spirit — but that freedom is coming at a hard price.

Ryan Gosling's most frequent co-star isn't Emma Stone. It's Los Angeles.
Over the past 10 years, Gosling has starred in seven movies where Los Angeles not only serves as the setting, but as a character. And he's the first to admit that the sunny, messy, dynamic sprawl is one of the keys to his storytelling.
"'L.A. worships everything and values nothing.' That was something my lady said to me one day, and I thought it was so funny I asked her if I could put it in the movie," Gosling told Et's Denny Directo during the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, where he was promoting 2016's La La Land. (The lady in question, of course, is Gosling's longtime partner Eva Mendes, although this being L.A., we do love the noirish connotations of him not identifying her by name.) "She was kidding, but it's a funny thing to say... I loved when...

Ok, try to stay with us here. Daniel Pyne (“Fracture,” “The Manchurian Candidate”) has taken over as “Bosch” showrunner, replacing Eric Overmyer in the role. As previously reported, Overmyer dropped the day-to-day duties on the Amazon original series to be the showrunner on another, “The Man in the High Castle.” There, he replaced Frank Spotnitz, who left the role mid-production on Season 2. Joining “Bosch” as an executive producer is John Mankiewicz (“House of Cards,” “House”), a regular collaborator of Pyne’s. Overmyer will remain an executive producer on “Bosch.” Got all that? In the late 2000s, Ryan Gosling was at a curious place in his career. After rupturing the hearts of romantics everywhere with a star-making turn in The Notebook, the young actor spent the subsequent years trying on different guises—there was his award-baiting role as a crack-addled teacher in Half Nelson, a failed bid at the mainstream with Fracture, and a foray into indie quirk as a weirdo in love with a doll in Lars And The Real Girl. Then, he kind of disappeared for a few years.
Well, he disappeared from our screens. In light of his Golden Globe win for his performance in Damien Chazelle’s La La Land, Vice felt it was a good time to revisit one of Gosling’s more curious musical detours. In 2009, perhaps as a way to reevaluate his career goals, Gosling joined forces with colleague Zach Shields to form Dead Man ...

Everyone who read Gillian Flynn's runaway 2012 bestseller Gone Girl quickly had a vision of Amy Dunne in their head. Hollywood was no different: The beautiful blonde who'd been the model for her parents' popular children's books, Amazing Amy, who disappeared on the morning of her fifth wedding anniversary, leading to a media frenzy that focused suspicions of foul play on her husband, Nick, could've been Reese Witherspoon or Charlize Theron or Emily Blunt. Chances are you didn't immediately picture Rosamund Pike. But when the lights come on in the theater after David Fincher's Gone Girl, don't expect to hear much second-guessing.

Rosamund Pike, the star of the highly anticipated film, Gone Girl, is about to get a lot of attention for her standout role as Amy Elliott Dunne, a disillusioned housewife who suddenly disappears on her fifth wedding anniversary. The part is one intense (and showy) role, and will surely stick with audiences well after the end credits stop rolling.
With all the buzz coming her way, it’s a good time to get to know the 35-year-old English actress making a big splash Stateside.
She’s a Bond Girl
While this is definitely her biggest role, it’s hardly her first. The actress’ first big screen part was Miranda Frost, a villainous Bond Girl in Pierce Brosnan’s final James Bond film Die Another Day. She was the 68th actress to be featured as a woman who finds herself entangled with the famed British spy.
