Mad Men, Season 7: Episode 12 – “Lost Horizon”
Written by Semi Chellas and Matthew Weiner
Directed by Phil Abraham
Airs Sunday nights at 10 on AMC
Following last week’s “Time & Life,” which featured what will certainly be the final classic Mad Men shakeup of business, Matthew Weiner’s characters find themselves adapting (or failing to adapt) to their new lives at McCann Erickson. Don, Peggy, Roger and Joan have all been points of both contrast and comparison to one another in the span of the series’ run, but “Lost Horizon” highlights the core of their individual developments. What, after all this time, have these people learned? How have their values changed, if at all? Was the success illusory or real and tangible? And how is that success defined–simply with a dollar amount?
What is likely Joan’s thematic conclusion here is as unfortunate as was being foreshadowed in these final episodes.

The Hub Network's kid-friendly frightfest "Spooksville" is heading into its spine-tingling mid-season finale on December 21st so before it takes off for the year, we sat down with three of its young stars, Katie Douglas, Nick Purcha, and Keean Johnson, for a Q&A.
Katie Douglas - "Sally Wilcox"
Q: What kind of response have you gotten from the show so far?
A: On social networking Sally’s quite a hit with the younger girls I noticed. They like her wardrobe, and the show is actually number two on the Hub Network, which is absolutely amazing.
Q: So tell me a little bit about what you thought when you first heard about the show, about doing something scary like this.
A: When I first heard about the audition, I read the description that it used to be a book so I looked everywhere for print copies, but I actually didn’t get to find it.

“It All Comes Back to Haunt Them” is the tagline for the upcoming fourth season of the completely excellent Being Human, which premieres on Syfy next month. To help remind us of what it is that’s coming back to haunt them, we have three TV spots, one for each character except Josh. Why no Josh? My guess is it’s either because they just haven’t posted that one yet, or because each spot is narrated by the character, and right now Josh’s voice comes out as a howl.
[Now updated with Josh, not sounding growly at all!]
First, though, check out the lovely new cast photos, and the fourth featurette in the “Counting” series, “Counting Fangs”:
Featurette: Being Human – Season 4: Counting Fangs
TV Spot: Being Human – Season 4: Aidan Haunted
TV Spot: Being Human – Season 4: Nora Haunted

We've been posting five fun facts about our favorite festive flicks leading up to Christmas ... and here's the perfect one for Christmas Eve.Today's featured film is Tim Burton and director Henry Selick's 1993 stop-motion classic, "The Nightmare Before Christmas!"1. Burton originally wrote "The Nightmare Before Christmas" as a poem in 1983 -- with Jack Skellington, his trusty dog Zero and Santa Claws as the only characters specifically named. Lock, Shock and Barrel are alluded to, and Jack's holiday toys (the vampire teddy bears, monster wreaths) are mentioned. Listen to Christopher Lee read it below:2. Chris Sarandon provided the talking voice for Jack, but apparently his singing voice was awful. Composer Danny Elfman is who you're actually listening to anytime the Pumpkin King breaks into song.3. The movie took almost three years to finish due to the slowness of stop-motion, with the crew averaging 60-70 seconds of footage a week. Hundreds...

Unfortunately I missed this awesome one-hour Visionaries panel at Comic-Con this year. The panel featured a discussion between Guillermo Del Toro and Jon Favreau. Thanks to /Film we have the entire conversation, which you can read below.
Question: How are you guys doing?
Guillermo Del Toro: Excrement!
[Everyone Laughs]
Question: How was the flight?
Guillermo Del Toro: It was painful, but I’m here. As I said earlier having a bulging… Having anything bulging after 40 is a hint of death.
Jon Favreau: I got an email from Guillermo a few days ago saying, “I don’t know if I’m going to be able to make it, I’m in pain.” And I said, “Oh my God,” the whole… part of the fun of being here and doing this is to be sitting next to this guy, because he has been an inspiration and a mentor and a friend...

Professor Crazy’s Case Log: I’m going to be interviewing the famous and highly gifted author Stefan Petrucha today. He has a column here now, and he is the author of the best-selling X-Files comic book series and has written eighteen novels, including Timetripper, The Rule of Won, a book he coauthored with Ryan Buell (the host of A&E’s Paranormal State) called Paranormal State: My Journey Into the Unknown, and his most recent novel, which I reviewed here, the paranormal historical vampire novel Blood Prophecy. He has also appeared in three episodes of Paranormal State. Will I also have paranormal experiences during this interview? Who knows…read on to find out!
Professor Crazy: You prefer to be called Stefan or Steve? What is your favorite color, and what is your quest? You could answer those, but I have some very sensible, non-crazy questions for you, as well.

There's a certain fever moviegoers get while they're at the Sundance Film Festival (in the case of the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, that's literally so). It feels like the center of the Universe while you're there; we fail to realize that the rest of the world barely cares because "Two and a Half Men" is still on, or the NFL playoffs are in full swing. The Sundance buzz rarely translates outside of Park City. It may feel like the best the year has to offer in film, and when you walk out of certain movies, you may even have the sense that it's going to take the world by storm, that a few of them might part the red sea of Hollywood formula, that America will finally stand up and take notice of something creative and original and bold.
But it never happens. Or, rarely so. Actual box-office hits, even modest ones like Garden State,...

It's hard to believe that it's been a whopping 15 years since Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas was released. The Buttercup-stealing Humperdink, or Chris Sarandon as Jack Skellington, Catherine O'Hara as Sally, plus a little bit of PeeWee and the wacky Greg Proops -- the days before Johnny and Helena were in everything Burtonesque.
In commemoration of the anniversary, the Collector's Edition DVD hits shelves next week, but to whet our hungry appetites, ShockTillYouDrop has got three clips from the new disc. Check out how they made the Haunted Mansion as a holiday tour led by Jack, the process of shooting the film, and finally, Tim Burton's original poem of The Nightmare Before Christmas, all funky and animated.
It's looking to be one heck of a great re-release. From seeing how Jack's version of the Haunted Mansion played out,...
