This dance short film looks at gymnastics, which I must admit that I've always seen as a sport rather than a dance but it produces moves that are impressive and quite beautiful. The basic plot appears to be about the young girl trying to mix this expression of movement and focus with her life as a teenage girl the home, the texts, the friends, the fights with other girls. It isn't totally clear but that appears to be the point about the determination required to work within this discipline. And I can believe it because the film shows Tarrant working hard while still making mistakes here and there.
Outside of this background narrative the film is mainly concerned with gymnastics and some dance moves. On the whole these are impressive and well done I couldn't stop thinking about the poise and strength the girls needed to do what they did (and couldn't stop thinking that they are very likely stronger than me). Although there are mistakes made they don't matter as they appear to be part of the narrative rather than a goof in the editing room. Tarrant and Borough are good together and Gillgreen has done well to turn a sport into more of an artistic display. Not the best technical display you can see but something more interesting as it mixes aspects of that with aspects of dance and a narrative.
