This episode is a riff on John McTiernan's Die Hard (1988). As an homage to the director, the van used to gain access into SD-6 is labeled as an air conditioner repair company named "McTiernan Air Conditioning''.

Goofs
The failed mission that Cole was on was in 1996. Cole said that the KGB contacted the CIA through various channels to confirm whether or not he was a CIA operative, but the KGB was disbanded in 1991.
