The day after this episode aired, Dr. Sam Sheppard was finally acquitted of murdering his wife, twelve years after he had been originally convicted. Sheppard's case was the one that inspired this series.

This series involves a man chasing a one-armed man that only he had seen, whereas the "Twilight Zone" episode was about a man being chased by a one-armed bandit that only he could see.
This is the third and final appearance Malcolm Atterbury makes in the series, each time playing a different character, but always in the role of a sheriff. The other two appearances occur in Stroke of Genius (1966) and Man on a String (1964).
